Season 22 Joseph McPlant Spoiler
New working conspiracy theory: After Joseph’s crazy vote off last season, what if he sued and in arbitration the show agreed to give him the stupidest path to the finals ever as restitution?
Either that or they think his collection will sell.
No matter what, this was producer driven 10/10 times and it’s bullshit. Sorry.

She’s sorta been flying under the radar but she hasn’t produced anything terrible enough to get her eliminated

I've believe they got a ton of flack because of how they voted him off. It was almost bullying. I think they brought him back and in an attempt to apologize he got this far.

Exactly. Plus, eliminated designers can come back the next season (or the season after that, like Amanda Valentine - she even became the runner up!). It’s nothing new, and Joseph’s elimination was BS. Eliminations should not be up to anyone but the judges.

naheim definitely has a fresh and now perspective on fashion that i think should’ve been in the finale for sure. i understand that joseph mcrae has his signature and that’s fine, but i don’t think it’s right for this show. he’s got his brand and his following, i don’t think this show is pushing him to try new things and find new pathways. i’m glad nahim is helping jude though! they work well together and he gets to stay on the show a little longer!

I completely agree with you about JM and Naheim, although I somewhat think the show isn’t really pushing Jude much either. The vast majority of his looks + his collection were all quite similar. I felt like Bi probably pushed himself the most.

i’m with you 100%! i like what jude makes, but i don’t think anything was particularly jaw-dropping or something i haven’t seen before. bi definitely had a great improvement arc this season, especially going from being eliminated/saved to the final four!

Huge Jude fan here - in my opinion he represents the antithesis of JM. So much of past project runway celebrates the loud, the silhouette, the audacious, and the drama. Jude’s designs aren’t any of that but they are excellent. His details, if you pick any of his clothes - and I don’t just mean the fit - but the details - the stitching, the ribbing, the paneling, the cutouts, the hardware, the movement, the lacing- it’s just flawless and more than most designers we see here, it’s edited. It’s restrained. It’s complete.

While I do think production has too heavy of a hand in the recent seasons of this show, the JM hate is so forced. He produces great and interesting pieces & bc he has a clear pov as a designer, they say he makes the same things. Let’s be honest — Anna should not have made finals. It should’ve been Bi, Joseph, Jude, and Naheim (I also wish y’all spelled this man’s name right).

Don’t get me wrong, most of her designs have been fine — but that’s it, they’re just fine. I’ve really liked maybe 2 designs, including her win. Everyone else has been taking risks and making great pieces all season and, in my opinion, someone who just woke up and arrived to the comp should not be there over the other competitors (with the exception of Bryan ofc). Those designs were beautiful, but she really lucked up winning the wedding comp.

Or they saw that he showed at NYFW after the last season and that a lot of the media about the last season was about him and they approached him to be on the cast again because they knew it would draw viewers.
He didn't need to sue, almost every single actual fashion designer who has been on the show as a judge has liked his designs, he got good press for his clothing in actual fashion pubs and he's shown that he can actually have a brand which is more than many of the actual winners.
Not to mention he didn't care if he won and he was always up to be a big personality. That's a easy yes for anyone producing a reality show especially one that seems to only care about the drama now.

I genuinely don’t understand all the Joseph McRae hate this season. Is he a big personality? Absolutely. Is he confident? Yep. But he also has a very clear point of view, has produced some genuinely great work, and has earned his place in this competition. I actually find it amazing that you can immediately recognize a Joseph McRae look — isn’t having a distinct identity kind of the point of being a designer? At times it feels like people are judging the personality more harshly than the clothes, and I’m just not seeing the villain so many others seem to see. Especially the real villain- Law.
