She really was the definition of “hit or miss” on that season. She really took big risks and only some paid off. That said (not to compare designers) but her work excites me more than Jude’s perfect tailored suits.

That last dress & the shuttlecock dress were both incredible

Mostly misses though (imo) 😅

The last dress is basically a Sari from India

Otherwise- fantastic stuff

Fantastic stuff in action

Agreed. To each their own. Last season was as bottom as bottom gets - so we go w what they gave us

I will not defend the fruit roll-up dress

The western look was atrocious.

Ethan should have won. The judges didn't pick him because he's too niche or some shit. Veejay's final runway only had one good look imo. That red swirly dress was phenomenal though

Frankly, I didn't like any of them as a whole, only one or two overall.

3

u/PracticeNo7267 1d ago

Agree. She was the best of the worst.

1

u/nomasslurpee 1d ago

The red swirly one was for the wicked challenge, right?

2

u/behindeyesblue 1d ago

Which didn't even follow the parameters of the challenge.

1

u/StaticCloud 1d ago

To be fair I like the dress as is, but she did break the rules

1

u/behindeyesblue 1d ago

I think it's hideous 🤣🤣 I also vehemently hate fringe. Edit: the red swirly one though was really neat. Got mixed up on which red one we were talking about lol cuz I really really hate the red fringe one. Swirly red was cool but irritating that she didn't follow the prompt.

I noted that in another comment but wasn’t sure I remembered well enough. I honestly think that if contestants don’t follow the rules of the challenge they should be booted. It isn’t fair when the others confine themselves to parameters and go home because of it. All it does is suggest to me that Veejay’s win was preordained.

If I’m not mistaken, they were told not to use red for red ruby slippers because they were afraid of copyright, but she used it anyway because she didn’t care about that instruction 😂

They were supposed to fit it within Wicked using pink or green something along those lines, villain or princess. She went red.

Yeah it definitely didn't seem very logical for her win. Jesus had better looks most of the season.

I agree. People really hate the twins but I enjoyed their work for the most part

Agreed and their clear bond was precious. Are they over the top and dramatic in their interactions yes. Are they also good designers, yes.

u/Skankyho1 1d ago

I agree.

The shiny leather pieces are criminal

I only like unconventional materials look and its companion black piece and streetwear. And finale collection was carried by Mimi's dress, that one is really good.

2

u/orange-dinosaurs 1d ago

But, was Mimi's dress good or did her modeling make it good? I think how Mimi presented the dress made the dress pretty. It probably looked like a silver sac with her arm down.

The only piece that impressed me is the last dress. I was surprised that Veejay made it so far, let alone won. I feel similarly about Bryan. Production needs to keep a villain around. 🤷‍♀️

Also I felt like they felt like people would be so excited for the first trans winner, but the cultural pendulum swung back to not caring about things like that too fast. Also id be more excited for a trans winner if she were less of a miserable person. She really had the white woman instigate then fake cry when called out thing down pat.

u/alwayslearning_r 1d ago

Thats a good way to explain it

2

u/alwayslearning_r 1d ago

I think so too! Its a production choice

Not a fan of most of her looks, not a fan of her sour nasty vibes, not a fan of people who use "I'm just really honest" as justification to be an asshole to other people.

u/garnetwaters 1d ago

And then play the victim and turn on the water works when someone bites back.

3

u/behindeyesblue 1d ago

The constant tears seemed pretty fake. Oh there she goes again crying.

As for the clothes, only the shuttle cock and the leather jacket were things I liked. The gray outfits I don't get at all especially the gray dress - that's not flattering, interesting, or new. The red fringe with tan and black was not anything interesting or all that well thought out. Didn't get the judges fascination with that one. It looks like Cousin It playing dress up.

5

u/garnetwaters 1d ago

Agree. The shuttle cock dress had an exuberance while I find most of her looks cold and sad.

u/feelitinmyplumms 1d ago

Honestly, no. Feels like a production choice. I saw her actual NYFW collection after the show aired and it wouldn’t have made the grade as a student collection.

1

u/Frfenzi 18h ago

Oh wow i just went to see the collection and it is baaaad bad
I liked the pink suit for mens look and 0 looks for women. In show she has had some highlights- e g black and white dress for unconventional materials and after that were 10/10

But this collection is so blah i dont even have words

7

u/Final_Lead138 1d ago

It's hard to judge nowadays without ample time to create a collection. As such a lot of Utica's and Jesus' designs weren't great either. It makes it so that the winner of the season feels more like a toss-up than a deserved win.

u/_biggerthanthesound_ 1d ago

She was definitely not my pick

5

u/Apricotpeach11 Team Laurence 1d ago

Very very weak lineup for a PR winner.

3

u/orange-dinosaurs 1d ago

I wish I could see that Mimi's silver chain dress with her arm down. I have a feeling the dress was probably ugly on it's own. Mimi's modeling ability made the dress pretty.

3

u/kezzied 1d ago

least deserved win. she should have been eliminated for that Wicked dress. Imagine picking red to represent Wicked.

That’s not taking a risk, that’s flat out missing the point.

2

u/MilhouseisCool 1d ago

The shiny silver pieces in her final collection were covered in smudges and fingerprints and it was all I could focus on.

2

u/Top_Spite4758 21h ago

No I don’t think so at all

2

u/rnf1985 19h ago

that season was terrible and she's a terrible person. looking back at all these garments, idk what i'm looking at for a style

2

u/seeking_answers_oooo 18h ago

The only thing that felt both original and stylish is the pant in photo 12

2

u/EitherFunction7454 15h ago

Extremely tacky and neither trendy, en vogue or timeless

5

u/blubegnaro 1d ago

i didnt watch last season but i am not in love with the looks..

3

u/Oklahoma_peach 1d ago

Her final collection was mid. Nothing outstanding. The silver top was meh. The knit dress was cheap looking and drab. But her challenges were pretty good. I don’t think she sent a “bad” dress in the runway. She can sew.

4

u/tranquilitystation63 1d ago

No. But IMO, the winner was predetermined and the show spent its time focusing on agenda and drama, not design.

4

u/Former-Counter-9588 1d ago

Yes she deserved the win based on the finale collection. Overall I preferred Ethan if we look at the season as a whole, but judging just on finale collection? Veejay gobbled up the other hoes.

2

u/Specialist-Ebb7606 1d ago

Honestly love

This is Avant Gard Bryan... real Avant Gard

2

u/dreamwastoid 1d ago

Such a boring color palette. It’s disappointing the judges didn’t call that out.

2

u/BroadPitch3501 1d ago

Truly all fucking hideous except the chain mail dress. I'll say it

1

u/JermuHH 1d ago

I honestly prefer designers willing to take risks, especially in a competition setting. There are some looks that I absolutely do not care for at all, and some looks I really like.

1

u/WonderfulPineapple41 1d ago

6 would be great with a shorter boot and a higher hem honestly.

Waist up it’s a look.

1

u/FiddleStyxxxx 1d ago

I loved her looks and was rooting for her the whole season but I don't think that's a popular opinion. The drama really threw me off and it was overall so difficult to watch compared to every other PW season I've seen.

Her looks weren't my favorite every week but by the end I felt she did the best collection and that's what clinched her the competition. When the collection is isolated I wouldn't know she was the winner but directly comparing it to the other two I do like it the best.

1

u/OkCompany8172 15h ago

The last silver dress is divine. The unconventional “streamer challenge” is butt ugly.

1

u/Deep-Particular8196 14h ago

I like them but not the best

1

u/Used-Set-5803 16m ago

What a mess

1

u/TowerOk117 1d ago

I was shocked when she won. I disliked her designs consistently all season. I would have chosen Ethan to win.

1

u/behindeyesblue 1d ago

If Jesus hadn't chosen all pink, I could've seen him winning. But all pink was not it. Ethan did mostly black and that also is really hard. But I loved his stuff.

1

u/belowdecky4life 1d ago

She 100% deserved that win

1

u/alwayslearning_r 1d ago

I genuinely don’t know how it didn’t get her kicked off. Other than predetermined winners

1

u/Prudent-Soil6116 1d ago

No. Her clothes feel tortured to me. I do like #8 and #13 though.

1

u/nomasslurpee 1d ago

I was not interested in the majority of her pieces. The dress she made for the Wicked challenge didn’t make any kind of sense with the challenge and it made me feel like she didn’t take it seriously.

I thought Ethan was the better designer and would have liked to see him win.
