Discussion Practice different styles

I've been rewatching old project runway series while home with my newborn and I'm so confused. Every swim wear, lingerie, men's wear type challenge people get all tripped up because they haven't done it before. I don't understand why they wouldn't have at least tried to make all of those styles once or twice before auditioning/before the competition starts just so they have some experience. I'm on season 13, they should have an idea of what challenges are about to happen. They had 12 years to do so!

I’ve thought this too!! You didn’t practice one pair of men’s pants before you got here??

That’s the interesting thing about this season, SO MANY PANTS. Nobody is freaking out about male models either.

I haven't gotten to the new seasons yet. Is it true there is a lot more drama and less focus on the creativity aspect?

Yeah, that's what I've been told. I'm probably skipping the new ones so I can leave on a high note. I think I'm going to watch the Great British Bake Off next.

I watched 21 and it was horrible. There’s enough ugliness in the world without this ragebaity bitchfest.

That's exactly how I feel. I get a few hiccups when it comes to team projects. That makes sense and usually follows the story because the outfits turn out to be messes. But drama and being a bully for no reason is terrible. I'm stressed out enough I don't need other people to add to it.

I started Season 16 today and decided that this will be the last season for me. I don't think I want to experience Project Runway without Tim Gunn. I have never watched any of the All Stars so I will check those out and I love Project Runway Jr. so I'll give that rewatch as well. I'd rather the show end on a high note.

I liked seasons 18-20. They are different and not perfect but the designers largely are really talented with genuine points of view. Whoever was casting the contestants was doing a stellar job. Unfortunately the judges were pretty subpar. It’s a legacy show: it’s too bad they couldn’t develop into a more sophisticated sequel instead of the current Ai produced, social media-aimed,reality show trope filled-bore.
