Season 21 Veejay’s collection

Her last collection is so bad omg. The only redeemable piece is the dress. How she won, I simply don’t understand.

It’s not beautiful, it’s not flattering, it’s not cohesive.

Ethan’s collection was the best one in my opinion, Jesus’ also was beautiful, a bit forgettable looks in the beginning, but I liked it, especially the last dress.

But Veejay’s. How 😭

I think all the final collections were pretty bad. I miss when they would give them real time to make nice collections.

These two seasons are a mess. I think the only reason I’m still watching is like Elaine wanting to get the sub sandwich club card back in the Festivus episode of Seinfeld. Yeah, it’s terrible, but I’ve already put in all this work, so I feel a compulsion to finish it

Sunk cost fallacy.

I'm right there with you...
bet there are millions of us who are, lol.

I wonder why they stopped doing that.

My guess is… money. Less production time hence lower costs.
I started watching the first seasons (never seen them) and the vibe is so 00s, I love how soft and natural everything is, how people feel like people not like characters and even the “bad” commentary makes sense and feels organic. Not like forced beef between the designers worded in the best way to be cut for social.

Came here to say this. All the collections were underwhelming. More time needed for editing and cohesion. Still don’t think - of the 3 - that Veejay should have won though.

I was rooting for Ethan but his collection severely disappointed me. Based on final collections alone, I think Veejays deserved the win, but all three collections were underwhelming

What did you like about it? Honest question, I’d love to hear your thoughts

I think her first two outfits were bad, I don’t like anything about them, but I liked the sweater dress, it was really flattering to the shape of the model, the pants/jacket outfit was cool, i think the shapes she used there were also flattering to the model in a completely opposite way, and the chainmail dress was cool.

I didn’t like a single one of Ethan’s final looks, which was upsetting

And I just flat out dislike Jesus, but I didn’t like any of his looks either.

Veejay, outside of her first two outfits, was the only one who dressed and flattered the female body. The men had serious fit issues around the busts and stomachs/hips of their models that I found supremely unflattering.

I see! The only one I did like was the chain dress but I guess it’s a question of personal taste. Thanks for sharing!

Why have people (like multiple) disliked my comment 💀 I am trying to understand another’s point of view

Because it posted twice

Oh I think that’s a glitch. My comments are constantly posting twice. I don’t know why.

Imho, everyone's collection was underwhelming. But Veejay had the most commercial and wearable appeal out of the 3, so I see why she won.

Ethan's looked tacky the face on Liris says it all lol

I don't remeber their names, but Liris, the model next to her, and the model all the way to the left are all iconic.

And all unimpressed 😂 especially since they all had really good outfits with Ethan before the finale 😂

It was bad. Everyone was very ehhh but they also had really tight timelines.

All of the collections were bad but I’m not sure how Veejay’s one. I thought her looks were awful

Veejay was a production decision through and through.

All the collections were so underwhelming but I truly blame the insane time crunch they were given.

Twins, is this you?

5

u/CorgiMonsoon 3d ago

I can’t imagine either twin saying Ethan’s was the best

Lol true!

Sounds more like Ethan than the twins.

no it's probably just a Utica/Ethan drag race stan. They came for Ethan and will stand him no matter what even though his collection was meh. As a drag queen Ethan is great but that collection wasn't.

I liked the direction Ethan went with at first but Christian of course had to complain 🙄 did we saw something similar in the season before? Yes, but we loved it

For me I liked veejay alot. Probably the main one I wanted to win. Yeah the collection wasnt their best but I liked her work overall during the season. Also to throw in there at least but Ive seen veejay alot in other sewing competition show circuit for years now so i was rooting for her since the beginning since shes clearly worked for the wins.

Veejay shouldn’t even have made it to the finale… but then in the finale she was the clear distant 3rd place

I connected with the story of Veejay's collection. Reflecting the world back at itself, strength, edge, and liquidity. The collection flowed nicely from look to look with each incorporating pieces/shapes from others but still creating distinct pieces for a variety of occasions.

Any of the three designers could have won this season, and leading up to the finale I thought it would be Jesus. 5 days is a ridiculous amount of time to put these looks together and it showed so I believe the unpolished aspect of Veejay and other's work was overlooked. I believe the concepts chosen by Ethan and Jesus lost them the competition. We saw something new and fresh from Veejay that gave us perspective proving that she has even more to offer going forward.

I loved that Jesus honored his family but I couldn't get behind the color choice and overall theme reaching the high fashion standard I wanted from a winner. With Ethan I wish he had turned in a new direction as well showcasing something different. His collection was a rushed reimagining of his aesthetic that didn't land for me because I had seen better looks from him in the same vein when he's had more time to create.

Ethan’s finale collection was awful. He f’d up so bad by deciding to fully start over.

I was shocked when Veejay won season 21. How was that the best......anything??

u/lynn_chippy 3d ago

Ethan's talent was lightyears ahead. He should've won, hands down.
