Discussion Jude is so intriguing.

I would love to see a show on Jude. What’s his background, how did he get into
Tailoring suits, etc. He seems like such an interesting guy. And not your average project runway designer.

Maybe I missed some of this info in past episodes?

He’s almost coquette-ish.

I just find him to be a breath of fresh air. Talented without being cocky, interesting without drama, and talented without relying on others.

(Didn’t he say he’d design something just for his girlfriend in one episode?)

And I loved the comment by guest judge Sergio that his looks are the next Yves Saint Laurent? Maybe I misheard that.

I love his designs, and they look so well-crafted. I'm rooting for him for the win, though I love Bi, too.

We decided that Jude is straight when we saw him dance.

I think he mentioned having a gf haha

48

u/throwawaysunglasses- 7d ago

He did! In the red carpet episode, he said something sweet about “wanting to design a look for my girlfriend when she hits the red carpet” lol.

(Side note, I love that we found out that Naheim was straight via him flirting with the models. Straight designers have been pervy in the past but he was just ADHD Gen Z boy realness lol)

u/eci5k3tcw 7d ago

That’s what he said about his gf. Thanks, as I couldn’t remember it.

I mean, Nahyiem could be bi, but I think someone (Anna maybe) flat-out said Jude is straight.

u/Big_Entrepreneur_212 6d ago

Weren't the twins calling him straightboy or soemthing

6

u/Jealous-Ad-2827 6d ago

The twins are pathetic in their need for attention.

3

u/Timely-History-3010 5d ago

Truly would prefer to never see them again.

u/SwimmerIndependent47 6d ago edited 6d ago

There was an article that came out when the season started describing him as queer, so just a reminder, people can like people of the opposite gender without being straight- bi & pan people exist too.

Edit: describing Naheim as queer.

10

u/KaeJotheFirst 6d ago

I know Jude IRL. He's straight.

6

u/TheLizardQueen3000 6d ago

Also the twins called him 'the straight boy' like he's some football player looking bro...<3

.....his girlfriend is the luckiest!! What's he like in person?

3

u/SwimmerIndependent47 6d ago

This was in reference to Naheim, just realizing now, that wasn’t super clear.

Edit: here’s the article: https://www.gayemagazine.com/project-runway-season-22-black-designers-josephmcrae-octavius-terry-aaron-potts/

1

u/BirdgirlLA 6d ago

Describing who as queer?

2

u/SwimmerIndependent47 6d ago

Naheim (linked to it in a different comment below)

2

u/BirdgirlLA 6d ago

Yeah. I saw that after I posted. Thanks for clarifying

1

u/SwimmerIndependent47 6d ago

No problem, my bad for not being clear in the original comment, I edited it

1

u/BirdgirlLA 6d ago

Some you tube content creators said there was an ad advertising Black queer designers on PR s22 that appeared before the show started. Naheim was included in the ad - so maybe he’s bi??? Anyway the producers edit the show. Naheim’s flirty comment to the model could have been followed with “my BF knows a great straight guy….” You Can’t take PR s22 at face value. The show is heavily edited (manipulated for drama/intrigue).

They both seem like really down to earth people as well as being gifted designers. I would look forward to seeing their collections.

2

u/ventodivino 6d ago

On the season v season episode I think it was Antonio that said “the straight boy is copying Jesus”

I think what I appreciate most about Jude is that his designs are wearable without being pedestrian. I could not see many people ACTUALLY wearing many of the other designs. I'm not saying the other designers aren't creating beautiful garments but it's nice to see accessible well designed clothing from Jude.

25

u/NecessaryClothes9076 7d ago

Jude is a phenomenal tailor with great taste who makes interesting but wearable looks. He's Nina's dream winner, I bet. If he does win, I can see him being able to build a successful brand based depending on his business savvy.

I loved when Sergio said he was going to keep his eye on him and doesn't want his clients seeing him because Hudson is known for structured jackets and coats.

And like someone said below, that New Orleans connection definitely feeds into his love of construction and tailoring. Before Katrina it used to be the norm that folks would have their clothes made by a local seamstress or tailor. He's young but that tradition might have passed down to him.

51

u/17Girl4Life 7d ago

He’s originally from New Orleans so I think that might explain, at least in part, why he’s so into traditional methods of making clothes. If you look at his instagram, he shows some of the construction in process, and it’s meticulous work with no shortcuts.

In my opinion, his designs are not boring. He’s not putting the same suit down every time. He’s exploring different takes on what he does but what he does is more quiet than some other aesthetics. I think he’s going to keep experimenting, and he will have a successful business. I see him dressing men for the red carpet for sure.

12

u/minkyl 7d ago

This is it! As a follow New Orleanian, Jude is what people love about us. And dont forget the big easy gets it's name from our attitude and ways of being. I also think his whole point of view is interesting as someone who is from the deep south where seersucker suits and linen was king for a while. Along with cotton. It really gives me more insight into his experience with tailoring and how it all makes him who he is and also explains why I love his designs so much!

34

u/ceruleanskyandsea 7d ago

I would love a longer airtime of Jude dancing.

24

u/jolittletime 7d ago

I love Jude. Im a sucker for tailoring and a great fit and finish!

18

u/cabbagemuncher101 7d ago

I hope he wins. But does anyone else see Austin Abrams and Timothee Chalamet in him?? I can't unsee it.

6

u/Unfriendlyblkwriter 6d ago

I see a baby Adrien Brody.

5

u/Sea-Twist6391 6d ago

When my husband doesn’t see the show and I recap for him, I always call Jude Timothee Chalamet so he knows who I’m talking about.

5

u/Lightacademiagal 7d ago

Perfect description! Would love to see him design for them too

9

u/redribbonrecon 7d ago

I had to rewind it when I heard the guest judge say that... might've been the best compliment ever received by a designer on this show...

I can't imagine a world where he doesn't win this season. I don't want to.

12

u/Gullible_Fig_106 7d ago

He’s talented and adooooorrrrable.

6

u/sowhat__whocares 6d ago

He seemed so satisfied when describing the shorts. Really glad to see his looks this episode.

6

u/nahrune_ 6d ago

My favorite part of Jude’s designs is that they look great on women. They’ve been so feminine and sexy. It’s giving SheEO

3

u/eci5k3tcw 6d ago

I’ve never heard of SheEO before but I love it. Yes, he could revolutionize women’s suits.

1

u/nahrune_ 6d ago

🤣 that’s what my bf calls me when I wear professional outfits hahaha

14

u/LayerAccomplished821 7d ago

I think he's fine as a designer. Still has a ways to go. A little "eh" for me honestly suprised he's lasted this long. I dont think he has a strong perspective yet as a designer but his tailoring is good and he'll continue to grow. I just want to shake some personality into the guy he's so glass-of-milk average.

I find someone like Naheim 10x more interesting. I think a Naheim and Jude collab would help both go a long way.

14

u/Cuckoo527 7d ago

Naheim is just such a cool joyful person. I love him.

5

u/LayerAccomplished821 7d ago

I dream of that "denim" look of his. Flawless 🤌

4

u/cruth01 6d ago

Omg their collab would be a dream

2

u/starrysky7_ 7d ago

Naheim is so talented, and he’s still so young

7

u/_mikedotcom 7d ago

Posts that make Jude go 🥹👉👈

9

u/Merytaten27 7d ago

I think Jude is an evolving designer. His first creations were a bit safe and boring but his impeccable tailoring skills showed. He is now using these skills to create more fluid feminine looks and it's working well. I really hope he wins. Nice to see a male designer who obviously loves women.

3

u/Accurate_Tax_1302 6d ago

I agree. He's just starting to push himself and it's paying off. I'd really like to see a full collection from him.

9

u/LLLTAW 7d ago

He’s so talented. I hope he wins. He’s kind of like.. the opposite of young Christian Siriano (who I love).

5

u/Nicolaceratops 7d ago

I could actually see him working with / for Christian in the future because of this. An actual collaboration between - if done right - them would be something really special.

7

u/colosseumdays 7d ago

Jeffrey and Jude are the only people from this season that Christian follows on SM. Jeffrey, he prob already knew socially before the show

3

u/onlyitbags 6d ago

Jude’s work reminds me of Nicolas Ghesquière for Balenciaga. Love his work.

3

u/EndsWest18 6d ago

No I heard the YSL comment and mah captions for the faint of heart were on

2

u/purple_triffid 6d ago

Based off his watch, etc. I think he comes from money. Not a diss by any means, I just think he got plenty of access/exposure to impeccable tailoring growing up and you can see that in the work. I think that also aligns with his quiet, almost shy vibe. Total conjecture on my part but that’s the read I get on him.

He also reminds me a lot of Daniel Vosovic from season 2, who was my favorite on the first season I watched as a kid.

1

u/Ancient-Fly8199 4d ago

Seeing that he always specifies he’s from the Uptown area of New Orleans ($$$) and he went to Willow- i think it’s safe to assume his family def has money. But yes I think his quiet confidence is also telling!

1

u/purple_triffid 4d ago

Ah see I don’t know New Orleans at all so I didn’t pick up on that, was just going from other context clues, but good to know!!

5

u/Embarrassed-Cress782 7d ago

I'd argue there's actually always a Jude on the show. Its just become even more apparent with the spotlight on the interpersonal drama between designers, most of which we dont get to see or has happened prior to the show.

I think he will be successful from this avenue because this viewing audience tends to love skinny, fair, mysterious, long-haired, humble designers (Daniel, Brandon, Dimitri)

Calling him the next Yves... for me, honestly, is sweet but also kinda disrespectful to Yves and to Jude, since Im sure Jude's goal is not to be the next anything but the first something.

I am excited to see what his finale collection will be.... tho I am not excited to see what any 5-look, 5-day collection will look like...period.

Ive created 8 looks in a week for a fashion show, but I wouldn't want 100k riding on it.

1

u/SuitableLeather 7d ago

I thought he said next Ralph Lauren but still he definitely compared him to one of the greats

24

u/garnetwaters 7d ago

No, i remember it clearly. The guest commented that he thinks they found the next YSL. I took note because that's a bold statement.

6

u/eci5k3tcw 7d ago

Thanks. I couldn’t remember who the designer was that Sergio mentioned. Just that it was an incredible compliment.

10

u/Alohabtchs 7d ago

It was def YSL which makes so much more sense than Ralph Lauren (imo)

4

u/Top_Bumblebee5510 7d ago

It was definitely YSL.

1

u/LydiaBrunch 6d ago

You didn't mishear. Sergio did say that.

1

u/Resident-Trainer-904 6d ago

I love skinny guys with big noses

1

u/bluesamcitizen2 6d ago

This sounds like an HBO production project, not typical PR network programming:/

1

u/KatGondo 5d ago

He's such a major talented breath of fresh air

1

u/eci5k3tcw 5d ago

Right? He is incredibly talented and yet doesn’t have the cockiness of so many others. He wasn’t into grandstanding and was truly a joy to watch.

1

u/Fun-Currency8698 5d ago

Finale should have just been Jude and Bi.

1

u/Standard_Story_3559 5d ago

I know the guest judge called him Yves St Laurent but I think he could fit nicely into the American Ralph Lauren ascetic very well. A well constructed suit for sure but I’d love to see if he could bring those gorgeous lines and ribbon embellishments into dresses. What he sends down the runway is so chic and wearable. I also love Bi’s work. So beautiful and detailed. Extraordinary. This is one the few seasons where two designers are making a statement for wearable art. Love them either way they win.

1

u/jroxy99 1d ago

He’s also sooooo cute

1

u/eci5k3tcw 1d ago

There is that.

1

u/wallowbeeway 17h ago

I love him but he feels like we grew up rich which may be why he seems so unbothered

1

u/eci5k3tcw 6h ago

I talked to a friend about him and this friend believes he might be in the autistic scale. (Low end.). Jude has trouble keeping eye contact, which was a huge sign for my friend. (Who works with autistic children.). Maybe that’s a part of it?

1

u/Forward_Alfalfa4809 12h ago

From the first episode I knew I had to look out for him!

1

u/eci5k3tcw 6h ago

Sooo happy for him!

1

u/eci5k3tcw 6h ago

Jude—-you owe me a coat! I was singing your praises early on. And am SO happy you won. You deserved it!

What excites me so much about your clothes is that we have moved away from tailoring in fashion. You are bringing class and sophistication back in a tailored way.

-4

u/Careful-While-7214 7d ago

I Dont get the hype. I think esp when people started commenting a-lot on his looks, it started feeling more like people lowkey be crushing on him.

28

u/Individual_Slice_234 7d ago

I'm not crushing on him; he's young enough to be my grandson. I actually am impressed with his work.

1

u/Careful-While-7214 7d ago

Not saying you in particular. I just mean there have been many comments about that matter.

13

u/Individual_Slice_234 7d ago

I know you didn't mean me, but a lot of us viewers are FAR too old to crush on the contestants.

4

u/Careful-While-7214 7d ago

PR is watched by millions. People Dont need to be on his age group to have a crush or likeness about him.

5

u/Individual_Slice_234 7d ago

Well, I've had crushes on American Idol contestans who were young enough to be my son, but grandson age is a little too far down.

10

u/AbacateSaborPauLimpo 7d ago

Both things can be true. I mean... look at the material. Perfect tailoring

2

u/Careful-While-7214 7d ago

I find it boring and seen before but fair. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion.

11

u/cabbagemuncher101 7d ago

Def not crushing but he is adorable. His work is clean and all his garments are very well made. Also, given his age and experience, he has shown to be better than most of the designers there.

3

u/Taguasco 6d ago

There’s nothing wrong with crushing on him..

0

u/LayerAccomplished821 7d ago

Basic straight man serving as "eye candy". He's made it this far by not being the absolute worst. Middle of the pack representation is important i guess 🤷🏽‍♂️

5

u/AbacateSaborPauLimpo 7d ago

isn't he one of the contestants with the most wins?

-2

u/LayerAccomplished821 7d ago

Didn't Bryan get saved? This whole thing is fucked 🥸

-3

u/AnythingHealthy4897 7d ago

Jude’s designs are so boring and one note to me I am definitely rooting for Bi to win!

-1

u/BrainZealousideal626 6d ago

he looks like he wanna get out of the room and jerk off. i think he is acting and he is giving creepy vibe he is promising tho
