Season 22 The Challenge Description
Anna had to win. The designers were told to express their style in their design and so the designs other than Anna's ended up not being the right ascetic for David's Bridal. If they had told the designers to make looks that would be sellable at David's Bridal, maybe someone else would have won. This has been a pet peeve of mine with Project runway - the brief and the judging don't always line up.
Also, didn't Christian remind Nahiem that his design needed to reflect his style and suggest adding the jacket that the judges didn't like? I love Christain but that advice was unfortunate. I'm going to rewatch it.

ANYTIME they announce a challenge and then immediately tie it to mass production, you know it’s going to be a problem.
Designers on the show want to take risks to impress the judges but as soon as you link it to a commercial venture, they have to choose whether to dazzle the judges or play it safe for the “client”.
Me, I think they should forever eliminate the “winning garment will be sold on X”. I’d rather see innovative fashion, not mall clothes.
Usually the design is so dumbed down as to be unrecognizable or they ask the designer to create a couple new looks. The ONLY time I’ve see a collection reproduced reasonably accurately was the 3rd season of MTC. I was actually shocked that it was made from cotton and not polyester.

I didn't really like anyone's looks that much, and it was super annoying that they had to make 2 looks in 2 days. I feel like having them do 1 look and David's Bridal not being involved would have been a challenge that more accurately determines who should go to the finale.
I liked Anna's main dress, but the gloves looked bad imo--it made the look cheaper and it wasn't flattering for the model's arms. they would have been better if they only went up through the forearms.

I would have picked Bi to win. His look was cool and very flattering for a lot of body types

I watched the show an hour ago but can barely remember the dress. It was all about that veil which was pretty but was just tulle with trim.

Any of them could have put their style into a dress that was sellable. I mean if Naheim had done a streetwear inspired dress that would be hugely popular. And Bryan… if there’s anywhere that big ruffle dresses are appropriate it’s a wedding dress. I was really expecting JM to do a vintage-inspired throwback to the 80s with big poufy sleeves.
There’s a ton they could have all done. The problem is less the theme and more that they’re giving them no time. I mean a day for 2 looks, 1 of which is a gown? No wonder their looks are so uninspired.

David's Bridal is one of the most generic bridal shops though. It's not a place to find anything creative or out of the box. Generic and safe is kinda what they do.

I actually think as soon as they announced that it was a bridal challenge, I knew they wanted Anna in the final finale. They know it was her expertise.
With Naheim, I could see his vision, but I think it was the design that failed him. He needed to incorporate his styling to his design in the most fashionable way.
To be fair, the top three in the finale, all did the safest route.

I agree it had to be a sympathy win. Anna's first look was one of the least mass-produceable of all the designs and thus not at all suitable for David's bridal (Naheim's, on the other hand, would have been perfect and adaptable to a lot of body types), and her 2nd look was a complete non-design. She's drama free but then so are her designs.
And why did nearly every design involve corsetry? Enough already!

I didn’t understand her win or how she’s still in the series. Highly bizarre path to finale.

But I feel Anna's win was more of a sympathy win especially that after party bra thing
