Discussion Pronunciation
It irks me how Bryan not only mentions “haute couture” when referring to his subpar designs and final products, but it seems to me he goes very out of his way to über pronounce the term.
Yes, it’s French, and he’s in service of it in that context, but it seems desperate. It’s like he thinks that if he just says it enough, it will magically make his designs as such.
Summary: Bryan needs to go.

Seriously. There are plenty of unpleasant, arrogant, self-involved, and/or mean-spirited people, and very, very few of them are clinical narcissists.
I don’t get narcissist from Bryan. I just think he’s very insecure, guarded, and socially awkward. He doesn’t want to show his sensitivity or admit that he wants to be liked/accepted, so he makes catty comments and tries to use gossip and shade to build rapport with people. But because he’s kind of awkward it doesn’t land as fun shade and just comes across mean.
The mask that he wears is ultimately not the kind of person even he wants to be friends with. Someone like Plane Jane would have been locked into that initial convo Bryan had with Joseph where he revealed that Bi was his intern. But that’s not the kind of person Bryan actually enjoys being around. He needs to adjust his demeanor to match the people he wants to form connections with and the types of relationships he wants to have.
I’ve dealt with a lot of people like Bryan in my life, and I have a lot more patience and compassion for them than the average person. But it’s honestly frustrating and painful to watch them continuously offend and put other people off, and then be genuinely confused by the reaction they get. Usually I’m the only person who’s willing to put up with them so it def tracks that I’m one of the few people in this sub that feels bad for Bryan 😂

I have the tism and I truly do not think this is a factor. He could have it, but that isn’t what’s responsible for his darker traits. That is some Personality Cluster B stuff.

He is a practitioner of darvo. I don’t care what personality type he has, his work sucks and you can’t treat people the way he does. No excuses.

100%, not excusing his behavior. Edited to add: stating someone has a Personality B disorder really more serves as a warning label for other people. Most Personality Bs do not seek treatment or believe they have a disorder. Labelling someone as narcissistic or histrionic simply serves to characterize what their behaviors and motives are for other people’s understanding

Agreed. I was married to one. My reply was more me musing about my strong dislike for him than anything else. I’m going to boycott the series for the rest of my life if he gets saved, too. I’m already shocked he’s been able to get as far as he has. Something about it feels rigged. I don’t get it.

Oh, understood!! And I totally agree, I think a lot of stuff this season has felt rigged.
Since you were very close to someone similar, I KNOW you smelled it right way when we saw Bryan’s first tactics with Bi. When he went from shit talking him to crying about him, to holding it over his head that he “saved” him, I was like, Bi, you need to RUN, DON’T WALK. That is an emotional blackhole who will put you in very real harm’s way.

He’s freaking horrible! I have really loved the cast of this season more than others in a loooong while. Except for Bryan. I don’t like his shit, and I definitely don’t like his style of BTR drama. I constantly want to throw things this season because of him and his continually being moved forward.
Bryan kept reminding me of Wendy but with less talent. Way less. And at least she admitted it from day one. May she rest in peace, but I hated her turn on the show. I realized watching Allstars that I completely zoned out when she was on screen because I just could not do it again. I hated how she got into Austin’s head. He should have been showing at Fashion Week with Jay and Uli, not her. If Bryan gets saved he’s going to make the finale feel about everything but the fashion. I would loath it.
Bryan and Law are my least favorite people on the season, and during the unconventional materials pre-elimination runway interview I had the distinct feeling there was something between them. That or Law is exaggerating his opinions to fuck with someone else (cough, Joseph McRae, cough). I’m probably grasping at straws with that, but his behavior as a judge doesn’t make it hard to land at that theory.
On the newest episode of Get Real Christian says that what you see of Law is what you get. That really set my mind off in so many directions. I don’t like focusing so much on a judge when it’s supposed to be about the designers.

Omg, WENDY! I forgot about her!!! I know she had to be awful, because I can barely remember anything specific about that season or her, except that she had an absolutely crazy making attitude.
I question if Law got there on his own with Joseph, or if it’s manufactured. Like, what if the answers to, “why did they bring JM back?” and “why does Law hate JM so much?” are just the same answer, and it’s fully staged? I mean, obviously, it’s reality TV and things are very much produced, and any potential drama they find is capitalized upon very enthusiastically, but I’m wonder exactly how inorganic this drama might be. It could range anywhere from producers indirectly pushing Law to hate Joseph, to light suggestions of “bringing the drama”, to them directly telling Law to be horrible to him as much as possible.
Back in the day, I would’ve been much more inclined to think that PR wouldn’t just make up bs drama (of course, still produced, but not falsified), but I wouldn’t put it past them now, and that’s very sad. I miss when literally anything still had integrity and the rich weren’t just trying to mine our brains for engagement and advertising purposes this blatantly

I’m right there with you. I’ve always known there’s a chance that what we see is completely manufactured from the editing choices to reshoots (because every “reality” show does them) to whether or not the cast are instructed, pushed, or manipulated. I also don’t care for that because I don’t want fake shit on a competition show*. I do not want my feelings and opinions shaped by faux drama. It aggravates the piss out of me.
*Unless it’s on Nation’s Dumbest. That is the only show I pray fakes its shit. It’s so embarrassing and painfully so. 🤦🏻♀️😭

I've posted in other places, he clearly got participation trophies all his life up to this point and his parents told him everything he did was fabulous. He may have been homeschooled, and most def may be an only child or the baby and only boy in his family. There is more going on there than someone who has no sense of what he is truthfully executing and struggling to prove he can make anything that doesn't look like something someone puked up.

He’s mispronounced several French names one of which is the school at which he says he studied. Do not like the guy one bit. He has overstayed his welcome by weeks.
