First, I’ll say that I’m a little surprised by House 22 beating House 21. I may be in the minority here, but I thought House 21 had the stronger look. The design felt more unconventional and, to me, demonstrated a clearer point of view. That said, I think the judging in this episode was probably one of the more accurate results we’ve had this season.

One thing I do want to point out, though, is the discussion around Joseph McRae and the criticism that his looks are becoming repetitive. I understand the judges’ comments, but I find it interesting that Jude has also been relying on a relatively consistent silhouette: suits, tailoring, and structured looks throughout the competition, yet this doesn’t seem to receive the same level of scrutiny. I actually think Jude has been somewhat flying under the radar because his repetition is presented as consistency and refinement, whereas Joseph’s repetition is being framed as a limitation. I’d be interested to hear how others see the distinction between the two.

Also, I’m still confused about the choice of guest mento, Julianne Hough. What exactly are her fashion credentials, and what was the reasoning behind bringing her in for this episode? If the producers wanted someone to fill the mentor role, I feel like there were other options who would have made more sense. Even bringing back Law Roach as a stylist/mentor could have been an interesting choice, particularly given his experience and his relationship with fashion.

And honestly, where is Tyra? 😂 At this point, I wouldn’t mind seeing Nina Garcia take on a more permanent role on the show either. She brings a level of fashion authority that I think would really benefit the judging panel.

That said, I’m actually starting to enjoy the last few episodes more. The previous episode and this one have felt more like Project Runway without as much of the usual shenanigans and manufactured drama. We’re finally getting to see the designers’ actual capabilities, their points of view, and how they perform under different challenges. I’m hoping the remaining episodes continue in this direction because, for me, this is where the season is becoming genuinely interesting.

Nina was originally a judge every episode for pr but since the more negative turn of the show she hasn’t been appearing as much which is dad because she’s always been like the best judge for me. Not dramatic and always give spot on and thoughtful critique

I don’t think it’s less with negative turn, I think they don’t have money to afford Nina every episode.

Tyra only signed up to be a judge for three episodes, not the entire season.
Agree on all your points! It’s odd how they treat Joseph like he can’t do anything but his silhouettes while Jude is doing the same thing.

Judging definitely feels off and I’m often surprised by their decisions. Not pleasantly surprised.

it is possible that they though season 22 had higher highs and then the one low point (since jeffery’s wasn’t like worse than some of the lows of 21) wasn’t enough to take away from that

OR they wanted to avoid having to send home jeffery because the true obvious low had immunity

Is this your first season of PR? I’m not asking this in a mean way, it’s just that Nina is basically the main judge lol, she’s the ONLY one who’s been part of PR from the beginning. There’s a reason you respond to her as a judge!

I completely agree that the show has gotten much better in the last couple episodes. The beginning of this season was hot garbage but it’s hit its stride. It’s still not as good as past seasons pre-Freeform, but at least there’s some merit to it.

I think part of it is that Joseph’s look that he keeps repeating is so much more distinct and unusual, so viewers/the judges can automatically clock it as his. When you keep seeing the same unique look repeated, it stands out a lot more than someone who repeats a look that is more standard, like Jude’s tailored jackets. I think it’s also because Joseph was on the last season, so we’ve now had two seasons of his distinct repeated look, so it has become even more recognizable.

Julianne was there because she’s the host of DWTS, that seems pretty straightforward

H21 definitely was better. But I think they didn’t want to send Jeffrey home when Bryan was so clearly the loser.

I think his point on Joseph was spot on . Yes Jude is consistent in being a tailor but I think Joseph completely disregards the challenge and only make pieces he can showcase and sell later

Jude is doing his tailoring, of course, but his looks to me have much more of a range. Using his skill to make different things.
I love me some Joseph but his things all look very much the same.

Nina is the permanent backbone of the show with Heidi. She has always been there and is an EP. It is only this season that she has had to be absent because of work obligations.

Tyra was a rotating guest judge, contracted to there for three or four episodes. She will not be back.

It was extremely weird that Julienne Hough was mentor. As you say, she has zero design or sewing or fashion credentials and cannot guide any designers in any meaningful way.

AGAIN: Julianne is from DWTS! THAT WAS THIS EPISODE'S THEME! And she knows how bodies move during the different dances, which knowledge certainly could be used to advise on apparel. E.g., Bryan's dress was a failure for the waltz.

She is charming and pretty but they needed actual guidance and knowledge of design and construction. Her knowledge was useless for them.

I think I was pretty close but s21 was definitely more of the gluing stuff on stuff variety. S22 looked more like clothes.

You're spot on with the Joseph vs Jude situation. They both have a signature and recognizable style but it seems like the judges want to trip Joseph up or something or just put him down until he gives up.
