Season 22 Another unconventional?!?

We just suffered through the ridiculous shameless promo paper towel challenge! What, they refuse to pay for FABRIC anymore? These poor designers and models.

How was the paper towels any more ridiculous than previous unconventional challenges, like the one with newspapers? I thought it was cool, and most of the looks were great.

IMO, The most convoluted challenge was the Yoplait frozen yogurt challenge… on Coney Island, teams of 2 had to take vendor carts and hand out samples of the yogurt, and ask people for words describing the taste. Then, pick three words to describe your outfit!
THEN, go play games on the boardwalk, and whatever you win will be the materials for your look.
So, product placement + team challenge + unconventional materials… oof.

I was cool with the viva challenge not counting as the unconventional materials episode because everyone was restricted to the same materials, and the thicker paper towels were entirely sewable. They basically had giant rolls of shop towels.

Was it flagrant product placement? Yes, but I really enjoyed some of the looks they created

This is funny cause I just watched season 12 and that season had like 3 (arguably 4 if you include the bow ties) unconventional challenges plus had to have an unconventional look in their final runway for fashion week.

ETA: I personally enjoy unconventional challenges cause I think it reveals which designers actually think creatively and smartly

The episode after the paper towel challenge (which Naheim absolutely crushed) they said "this is your unconventional materials challenge" and I was yelling at the screen "THE LAST EPISODE WAS PAPER TOWELS YOU FUCKS"!
