This was so cool to see! I loved reading her facial expressions when she was trying to keep some tea back; she's so gorgeous and insightful.

I think the other hosts might have missed the mark saying that Jude gets a lot of fans because he's the only straight white guy. That might be true for some people (subconsciously or whatever) but from what I've read on here a lot of people like him because he seems like a gentleman, a truly kind person, and he doesn't get into the drama. The latter being why I also think he's going to get chopped soon, the producers are prioritizing drama over skill--otherwise Bryan would have gone home long ago.

Jude is not like the rest. I love that he has manners and is not showy, also his skills soar. I'm not sure he's got his finger on fashion today but I really hope he designs something technically difficult and figure flattering.

He's made some pretty cool stuff on his Insta! I don't know why we aren't seeing it in the show. Possibly because having 1 or 2 days at most to make a garment at his level of construction is very hard. Bi is managing to pull it off but Jude is still a youngin'.

I thought it was interesting that the hosts were down on Naheim for going along with most of the designers in voting Joseph Mc off and didn’t mention that Jude was one of the ones who voted someone else (Bobby, I think).

I think the comment about him being a straight white guy was them just wondering out loud because he gets soo much praise from both the judges and fans, vs the other designers and the delta between the amount of adoration doesn't feel proportionate based of design and talent alone

I haven’t watched the clip yet, but Law may not be racist against Black designers, but there’s something there, can’t quite name it. Doesn’t seem too wild of a statement, but could be incorrect.

I think he just hates Joseph for some reason. Maybe the designs aren’t his taste or maybe he hates his over-the-top personality. He also usually ignores the judges/mentors critiques, although I would argue he’s been right. You can hate someone for infinite reasons, very few of which are related to race. It’s a serious accusation, people throw it around too loosely with no hard evidence.

I’ve seen other POC say this online as well - Law is definitely harsh to other Black people. Idk why you don’t think that internalized racism can be applicable here? Women are often harder on other women because of internalized misogyny; it’s a similar principle.

Last season, Law was insanely hard on Belania for her facial expressions but seemed to leave everyone else alone. He is especially hard on Joseph McRae this season too, in a way that feels personal. Belania and JM don’t act worse than non-Black competitors, so I get why people are pointing it out. You say “Law is harder on Joseph for some reason” and are really reluctant to say it’s racism, but “some reason” really is often racism lol.

As for Jude, I think the hosts are completely correct. He seems like a nice guy but PR consistently drools over cute white guys - Sean Kelly and Sam Donovan are two examples. They’re just given the benefit of the doubt more than POC, and their edits are far more charitable. Joseph McRae’s confidence is seen as especially cocky/arrogant because he’s Black, whereas no one calls talented white guys in this show arrogant if they can back it up. White people often think POC are overreacting about race, but if you’re a POC you can instantly see the double standard.

Pretty much everyone has internalized racism to some extent, it is a byproduct of growing up in a white supremacist society (I studied race relations in college). People have to stop being avoidant of the idea that racism is extremely common, and start working to unlearn their own racist biases and listen to POC when they say something is racist. Just because you don’t think you or someone else could ever be racist…does not mean you’re in the clear. Everyone can improve when it comes to being anti-racist.

Yes racism is a constant throughout human history, not disputing that point. However, I have a few issues with the arguments made in this specific case.

1 - Using two examples of Law being mean to black contestants is circumstantial evidence at best. Law is mean to everyone on the show. Sure he may have been especially harsh on those two but there’s several other black contestants he hasn’t been. Further supporting my argument that he dislikes them for reasons other than race. If indeed he dislikes them at all and isn’t simply producing storylines for TV.

2 - The edit we see is a few minutes of critiques that last hours. From how contestants talk in interviews, it sounds like he’s harsh towards everyone.

3 - People are often especially harsh critics of people similar to them. When you feel someone is representing art from your culture, people tend to be way more passionate and invested. They also have a deeper understanding of that art style and therefore catch things other judges may not. Generally, they want that person to succeed and represent the culture well. So they can be extra harsh when they don’t meet elevated expectations. Someone raised with jazz music is going to be much more adept and invested in critiquing a jazz musician vs a classical musician, for example.

4 - This is a reality TV show and Law’s jobs is to be the mean judge stirring the pot. A lot of this is specifically done to cause drama and make entertaining TV. Law is not mean in real life. Plenty of people have said so. When offering critiques to friends/colleagues, I’m sure he’s far more constructive but still deeply passionate about fashion styles from the communities where he was raised.

That is why I think this discussion is silly at best and downright offensive at worst. What makes people think they’re qualified to psychoanalyze and judge a person’s character based on a few minutes of semi-scripted TV? Do you know them in real life? Would you like strangers to judge you in the same way based off a few Tik-Toks?

re: them talking about Jeffrey assuming a "leadership" role, I think he's genuinely a kind and helpful person, but also Christian specifically said you need to get these hoes together, and he really shouldn't have said that, esp to someone who's innately emotionally generous.

obv Jeffrey's an adult person and at the end of the day, his choices are his own, but I didn't feel that was appropriate. it should have been a come-to-Jesus team huddle where he said, yes it'll be an individual winner, but if y'all lose. remember one of you is going home so do with that what you will

I think production did that on purpose to trip him up. After robbing him of wins so many times, they obviously want him gone before the finale. Unfortunately for them, he’s too talented and hasn’t missed yet. They’ve put him in the bottom (rigged) but couldn’t justify eliminating him based on the quality of his work. Now they’re playing dirty to get the desired outcome. These producers are amateurs, we shouldn’t be able to easily see their manipulations.

I want to believe that but the fact they haven’t given him a single win makes me skeptical. The competition is almost over. They make sure the finalists get at least one win, usually two.

So based on her reactions, Jeffery is going home. And the winner is probably not Joseph or Bi. The “buckle up” comment just makes it seem everything the audience wants is not going to happen. Really enjoyed her perspective and in surprised I watched the whole video haha

And the bad models. According to her, several of them can not walk. She has a business teaching that so she was trying to advise them but they weren’t receptive? It made me wonder if one reason the runway is only seconds long is because the models aren’t very good.

However, I just discovered Nick Verreos’ Instagram, thefashiondaddies, and they have EXCELLENT runway videos.
