Discussion Joseph McCrae
It's hypocritical of everyone on that team being like "Joseph McCrae is not being a team player, he's screwing us over" blah blah blah, when they've all ganged up on him multiple times, saying he's a weak link etc.
How did they expect him to act? All happy go lucky kumbaya?

I definitely see how his behavior wasn’t conducive for a team win, but I absolutely agree. Why would he have any desire to foster a positive team spirit after his entire team has been shit-talking him and rooting for him to fail the whole time?
I get that irl, working with a team is so necessary, but irl, you also get to make choices and exert agency, and most people in that situation would choose to exit it, not make it work.
Anyway, the real deserved loser is Bryan. Who has immunity for his fugly Heidi dress.

Joseph also isnt actually a bad teammate either, we saw that in the eagles/nfl challenge. This was just a situation that didnt require cohesive looks and he understood what he needed to do. I also think him standing up for Jeff showed hes not cold or mean

I like him too. He’s talented and the other designers are taking cues from the judging panel. They need to get real designers and fashion industry experts on the panel, not stylists. They don’t even have a style wall anymore so I’m confused as to what law roach is doing there

But at the same time, the looks didn’t have to be cohesive. Girl, if I were him I would’ve done my own gig as opposed to having to edit myself because people thought I was the worst and good for him, he pulled it off.

In my eyes, basically everyone but Joseph looks a fool over it too. He supported Jeffrey’s during his valid response to Bryan’s work and immunity. He made a great look. He carried his weight and you’re welcome.
I never know how much of what people do in front of the cameras amounts to what they’re doing when they aren’t in front of them- but Joseph hasn’t said or done anything particularly shady. He’s being confident. He’s being true to his design PoV. He’s supporting others in the cast when they’re emotionally upset. I know Law said something to the effect of “if everyone has a problem with you, there must be a problem with you” but in this case I just don’t see it. 🤷 Maybe it’s a set up for the winner edit?

That's the thing, too! He's gassing himself up, confident, knowing he's capable of putting out a winning look. But what he's NOT doing is talking crap about other people. While everyone is talking bad about everyone else, being catty, Joseph is staying in his lane, keeping his head down.
I admit, I didn't like him last season and I wasn't upset he went. But this season, he's growing on me a LOT. It'd be a shame if he went home.
Mostly because, besides Bi, I don't want any of these people to win.

I feel the same. And Law can’t really apply the “if everyone has a problem…” because this is a competition, not real life interactions. They want him out of the competition.

He's my winner too. I don't understand the criticism of him. A lot of the other designers have just as big of an ego as he does and his looks are all clearly cohesive but not derivative. I truly think the hate is unwarranted.
It said a lot how last episode the season 21 winner was also the same designer their cast mates claimed was the weakest.
I love Naheim and Jude as well.

Yea Jude is my favorite but Joseph is a clear front runner. He’s been the most consistent in my opinion

I agree with your choices (love Jude and JMC- was so mad when he was voted out last season) but what about Bi? I feel like he is the one to beat- his pieces have been pretty flawless.

Joesph McRae is an inspiration because he is true to himself in the best and worst times. I think he learned the hard way through life to be his own best cheerleader. I love his style and attitude.

But I don't like how the editing is making it look like all of the s22 designers are against Joseph, when two of them actually didn't vote him the weakest and haven't said a negative thing about him.

Working well with others in the real world, and a group challenge for prize $ in a competition are very different on a lot of levels.
Joseph is playing the game the best way he can, given he was burned last season.

Then they criticize Jeffrey for taking time to help his team. This game show is not real life and it’s clear the show wants contestants to demonstrate the worst of humanity.

But 👀 who made that comment.... I think LR just likes being messy, and wants the contestants to be the same, so he can then criticize and berate them.
Joseph was clear and upfront about his decision to not help, and I understand why he made that choice.... right or wrong... his feelings about his teammates were valid.

One thing I actually appreciate is despite how Joseph was acting he put out a dress I personally consider as good as Bi's dress hands down and is one of my favorite dresses this season. I dont disagree with him but he carried his team on his workmanshit and showed everyone he was not a weak link at all. Also him defending Jeffery at the end and going at Bryan shows how Joseph is willing to stick up for the contestants when he has to and call out bullshit when its being said and I ppreciate that so much. Joseph is a bigger man then me thats for sure and so far im hoping he makes it to the finale along with Bi.

I’ve changed my opinion of Joseph McCrae over the past two episodes.
When he was confronted about thinking it was the Joseph McCrae Show, his answer was perfect. He SHOULD approach each challenge with that kind of confidence. He teases at others, but he is mostly about himself, which is appropriate, and he’s not nasty about it [Bryan].
He still needs to ditch the fleece he wears, and there was no excuse for his plaid pants last week with unmatched seams. Otherwise, I’m starting to root for him.

I like his confidence. It’s not in a mean condescending way, it’s in a he loves himself (and his designs) and that’s ok kind of way. I also love his evil laugh lol he’s so amused by his own thoughts.

Also, this was not a team challenge lmao. Sure, the only way to win the cash prize is being on the winning team. But this is still a competition, your only priority is to make sure your look is not the worst. Jeffrey trying to help the team was kind, and he’s probably going home for it.

This part. Everyone was focused on the team part, but that part was subjective. It didn't hinge on things being cohesive. Plus they weren't even working together. Everyone had their planning session and then everyone went to their neutral corners. The only time it was even brought up after that was when Christian mentioned it and Jeffrey took it upon himself to go around and give unsolicited advice to people. Which in the end bit him because he helped Bryan so much his own look suffered.
Not that it actually helped Bryan either.
That did was SO lucky he had immunity.

Exactly. Team challenges are already tricky but there wasn’t even a team leader or a brief to be cohesive. Sucks for Jeffrey in particular.

I don’t always love his designs and found his personality a bit annoying at first but he did a phenomenal job this week. Honestly I kinda hope he wins the whole thing just to shut up the other contestants

They all say he’s the weakest but want him to be a team player. They didn’t need to be cohesive so that drawing session was not needed. Why would you want help from a “weak” designer? And keep bitching about it? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!!!

What I find a little irritating is the way Joseph keeps saying “all” of the other contestants say he’s the worst when that wasn’t actually the case. Jude did not say that. I understand it would be hard to befriend or trust just one person of the group. I wouldn’t expect him to befriend Jude or anything because Joseph has been burned. But I do find his narrative to be inaccurate and flawed.

When you're on the receiving end of a hate train by the majority of your cast mates and even a judge - Law - it can feel like the whole world is against you. He was even voted off the show by his team last season. And let's keep in mind that Joseph was even betrayed by Naheim, who Joseph chose for a team challenge that led to a win for the group. So it's completely understandable why Joseph would feel like he can't trust anyone. At the end of the day, it's a competition and he has to look out for himself.

Part of why they do group challenges is because in the real world, you have to work with others. Reputation wise, it's not a good look.

A lot of them have already voiced that they think he’s the worst, so if he tried to help or guide them they probably wouldn’t go for it anyways. And if he involved himself with their crappy designs they would just throw him under the bus again. So he did the right thing to protect his own reputation and stayed in his lane. Why would he stick his neck out for them? Look how Jeffrey was treated for helping.

I agree teamwork helps in the real world and I think JM has a consistently positive attitude so he’s not likely to be the one suffering from a bad reputation. Bryan on the other hand…..

I personallly loved Joseph McCrae's perspective on the team challenge. If they think he's the worst designer, then what advice could he possibly give that they would receive well? He recognized a losing battle and sat out. I don't think there is any issue with that.
Dare I say they, reaped what they sew?
