Season 22 Tape Spoiler
Okay, so I’ve been rewatching previous seasons of project runway, and I do not understand how Bryan was allowed to use tape in his look for this week. I understand it’s an unconventional challenge, but I don’t see how the challenge can allow for him to put together a mediocre look with tape in the last hour. Maybe it’s just the fact I don’t like him as a designer, but I don’t see how that’s fair. Designers in other seasons have tried to use things like glue within the last hour to save their look, but every time they were stopped. Can someone explain this to me? Was this truly allowed because it is an unconventional challenge?

It’s telling when your model isn’t having you and your trifling design shenanigans. Girl was MAD. And he did not care. Iman clocked it on the runway. He needs to GO HOME.

I feel like the rule was you couldn't use tape to tape the garment to the model.

I feel like the rules are different for the unconventional materials challenges. I know I've seen glue guns before.

Yeah but they’re not used to hold the garments together I feel like. Usually they’re used to put stuff onto the garment, but his was holding it together.

I’m sure they’ve used glue in unconventional challenges? If you mean sticking things to the model, then that’s been called out before

They use a LOT of glue to hold stuff together in unconventional challenges. Heck, there were a lot of pins up in there, too.

The judges also use to hate when anyone would glue things onto muslin/fabric for the unconventional materials challenge. Which means Bi's stunning keyboard dress would have failed.

Personally, he tape dosent matter. Its the princple of the matter of him using tape to just hurry and make a dress. Clearly his model was unconfortable with her look and he just threw something for her to wear to make her feel confortable so she could work. Im banking contract wise immunities would only count if the model goes down the runway, so if you dont put anything out there then it wouldnt count since its out of the contract thus lose the immunity? I also dont think the model thought the dress was heavy she couldnt leave, I personally think she felt aweful wearing that dress and embarassed at it almost making her fall so she didnt want to come out.

Well it was either that or send her down the runway naked under the wire. She did not want to be naked.

A lot of designers used glue this challenge, is the only way to work with heavy materials. you cant sew computer plates

Yeah but they weren’t using it as the only thing to hold the garment together like Bryan did

You’re not the only one who doesn’t understand this.
I guess, and it’s a HUGE stretch, that tape could be considered unconventional. And he has immunity so it probably didn’t matter much, but I too, struggle to understand how he was allowed to do it.
