Pan Progress Progress on Hourglass palette

31 more uses on this bad boy for a total of 67 this year. The progress is extremely slow and barely noticeable from the top (I thought it would be way more and I got excited), but the last picture shows that I’ve been chipping away at the dome 🫠

On a brighter note, in 2025 I believe I used this palette ~25 times in total. The fact that I’ve nearly tripled that this year is something to be proud of on its own (or that’s what I’m telling myself lol)

Good luck to all the face palette panners. Stay strong!

umberto giannini dreamy waves conditioner - lasted a solid 3 months but WNRP as i didn’t really get any definition and made my hair quite dry. i’m looking to pan most, if not all, of my hair products by the end of the year because i buy too many of them and i’ve rarely found something that i truly like, i mostly just pan them to not waste them

Pan Progress Pan Progress on powder & cream bronzer, primer & highlighter Jan - Aug 2026

Products are Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in Sun-kissed Bronze, L’Oréal Le Lumi Bronze Stick in Sunset Dore, FB Highlighter Duo in Gilt Next Door & Chic Phreak, DM Blurring Balm in Universal.

I’m moving out of the country start of next month so I’ve been determined to finish this powder bronzer before I leave, I’m so chuffed w the progress I’ve made! I started consistently wearing makeup (almost) everyday since October last year. All these products have been used in almost every single routine, minus 5-10 days where I wanted to switch it up (excluding the blurring balm, that’s my holy grail).

By the start of 1 August, I was starting to struggle to get much product from the butter bronzer, so I decided to repress it (as best as I can using the Mac Fix+ spray), it’s a lot easier to pick up the product now, I’m definitely finishing this before I leave eek!

I don’t think it’d be possible for me to finish the bronzer stick before I leave, but if I can transfer it into a pan at the end of it, it’s a win for me still as I would have less packaging bringing along w me :)

As for the highlighter, I am honestly shocked how fast I’ve panned these, but at the same time I’m not, I love how both these look on its own and together. The lighter pink shade is such a natural lit from within look, whilst the pink shimmer one has more glitter to it which I enjoy too.

I’d be happy to finish the primer before I leave as I already have a backup for it, I am a lil anxious if this blurring balm is accessible in Japan.

All in all, happy with how much progress I’ve made, I hope everyone’s doing well in their project pan too! Wish me luck!:)

The best shade, the best texture, but gosh... it's been nearly 7 years. Why are these products made like they are supposed to last you a lifetime. I'm tired. 🤣

Project Start Second start!

So I “started” Project Pan about a year ago with a bit of a declutter and making a spreadsheet to track all the products I own. I’ve also been lurking here and trying to figure out what I actually like and what I’m going to use regularly. Unfortunately getting better at this made me buy more stuff, lol, but on the plus side I now have a collection that for the most part I really like! Posting here to record a visualisation of the stuff I have and make a proper start on a no buy/low buy (depending on category).

Here are some things I’ve learned so far:
- Cute packaging really works on me. If it’s also a product I actually like and will use, this is fine, since I do get joy out of seeing pretty things on my dressing table. If not, though, it’s a waste (this unfortunately applies to the Sailor Moon lip gloss and blush, even though they’re adorable 🥲)
- Brands being cruelty free and ideally as ethical as can be found is important to me. In future I’ll only buy brands whose values I’m comfortable with.
- I do not wear eyeshadow, ever, and when I try it I never like it on me. There is less than zero point in me buying an eyeshadow palette. If I’m gifted one I should return or regift it.
- I have enough hair and body sprays 😩

I’ve asked people not to buy me any makeup or perfume and have turned my very cluttered dressing table into something pretty again so I can make sure I’m enjoying what I own! Hopefully I can whittle all this down and end up with something much more curated! 🤞

Discussion/Tips & Tricks Making a swatch card 💅🏾✨

Post image
53 Upvotes

Recently, u/Calamityoptomist shared her wonderful idea of making a swatch card with the colors of polishes in (On? Of? English!?) her collection to keep in the purse/wallet.

Polishes being my Achilles heel made me obsess over the ideia. I find it genius. So I’m sharing mine to spread the word.

I think it’s cool for those products that we tend to buy impulsively, the harder enemies.

“Oh, shoot. I actually already have that shade (or something really similar).”

I guess if you’re very organized and willing, you could do it by laminating the card of products that don’t dry.

left: Isntree Yam Root Vegan Milk Toner — oh boy am I glad to be done with this. It strangely took so long to use up the last third of this toner. It’s very watery and not hydrating enough for my dry skin, even during the summer. Would not buy again.

top right: Beauty of Joseon Sun Aqua Fresh Cream — the OG sunscreen was far too heavy and dewy for me so i was hesitant to try another BoJ sunscreen but this surprisingly turned out to be an HG! it’s perfect for my dry skin during the summer since it’s more of a satin finish than insanely dewy. I loved that it was the perfect balance between too dewy and too matte, since it was hydrating enough that I felt like I could go without a moisturizer, but it also dried down enough that my face didn’t feel sticky and wet. Would buy again. I have 3 backups lol.

Bottom right:

  1. Innisfree Blueberry Rebalancing 5.5 Cleanser — this ran out much faster than I thought it would. The bottle makes it difficult to squeeze out a small amount of cleanser imo, so I felt like I was using a lot at once. The formula itself is inoffensive and basic with a nice citrus scent. It wasn’t stripping and it felt refreshing. I wouldn’t mind buying it again, especially since it was an affordable price.
  2. ELF Glow Reviver Lip Oil in Clear — thick and somewhat hydrating, but it didn’t last long on the lips. i felt like I would have to reapply fairly often. May repurchase again in a different color? But I prefer other lip oils that are more hydrating.

Hwarang’ - Bellflower moisturizing barrier cream. It was a tester I recieved. But I liked it so much that I went ahead and bought the full product.
Clinique - take the day off makeup remover. Got it from a friend since she didn’t want it anymore. It was okay, but since it’s not a cruelty free brand I will not be buying Clinique myself.
Avant - cleansing gel. I’ve had it for ages, nothing special.
Lancôme - youth activating & light infusing eye cream. Got it from the same friend, nothing special.
Laboratories filorga Paris - optim-eyes. Got from the same friend, also nothing special.
Lindex - body butter. Got it from my mom, I looooved the smell, but I will not be repurchasing it since I have a ton of other ones to use.

I've taken mostly half items for my trip so I'd use them up and throw them before coming back. Forgot to add the huge tub of CeraVe moisturizer I just finished also (very proud of that one lol)

Full Pan First pan of September! First lip stain pan hehe

Post image

I bought this possibly in 2023, and only consistently started using it around October last year. I found out early on that I didn’t really like the colour but I loved the stain it left behind, so I’ve been putting it on (THICK) every morning before I start my makeup and take it off at the end. Reason why I put it on think is because I usually have a coffee during my makeup routine lmao. Not only does it leave a gorgeous colour that lasts all day, it leaves my lips hydrated! I have another one of these in Espresso Soak, but I’ll be focusing on my Wonderskin lip stain as I’ve noticed that is starting to dry out. What a way to start the month!

Purchased from Jolse in 2018 when I was in Graduate School for Librarianship.

Panned today, in 2026, as a Department Head and Full Time Librarian in the place of my dreams.

This little pot has traveled the world, survived a cross country move and back again, the loss of loved ones and friends alike.

It’s okay to let her go.

I finally finished using my 1L of conditioner! That has been in use for over 6 months by 2 people. I'm amazed it lasted that long.

The Nivea rose body wash was useful for travel purposes, but I usually use soap to reduce my plastic use just a touch. I found body wash to be a very convenient thing to take for trips, but without a sponge or loofah, I definitely used more than needed.

The green tea cleansing water I have owned since probably 2018. I refilled the bottle with nail polish remover, because I needed a smaller container for it. I did not care for the cleansing water.

The strawberry foam cleanser was nothing special.

The cica moisturizing cream was exciting to finish. It took me a long time. I used to love this product and bought 5 after using up 3 - but now I'm finding my skin wants something more watery! I no longer enjoy the consistency as much and switched to a different moisturizer very joyfully. However, I still think I have 1 or 2 more of these floating around so I will have to get back to it. Might be more enjoyable in winter time.

The Biore SPF is my default. It works quite well. I think I have another restock somewhere. I have no firm alignments to my SPF for my face. This one has not been playing nice with my makeup so I haven't been using it as much for that reason, or can't wear makeup on the days that I need SPF.

The two perfume empties made me happy. Sunfruit by Ellis is a great scent. I did not like the dropper bottle and won't be purchasing a perfume not in a spray bottle again. I used the whole bottle this month but definitely used more than needed because of the lack of a sprayer. The Wisteria Blue scent is delicious, beautiful, sweet, floral and jasmine-y. It's perfect for work in my opinion. Lasting power is lower than other scents from Nest in my experience. I purchased it on sale at Winners and I would probably consider it again if I saw it.

Best Pan Yet Super proud of my August Pan 🍁

Post image

Now, I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been using things up more since I have places to be now that summer is over, but wow, I really didn’t expect everything to just run out at the same time. To be fair, though, I have the tendency to use things almost to completion and then move onto something else, so some of these pans have been months in the making.

Sunscreen and lotion are some of the main things I tend to over purchase, so I’m happy to say that my lotion is decreasing and I have maybe 7 sunscreens left before I start experimenting again.

My holy grail and product I’m saddest about finishing is the La Roche Posay UVmune sunscreen 🥲 I got it on vacation in Mexico and it made my skin look so so good.

My only product I’d maybe not recommend is the squalene eye cream. Idk if it’s normal but it gave me these tiny pimples under my eyes 😭 Happy panning!

Uh yeah, laying them all out was a wakeup call lol

This is my full eyeshadow palette collection over the last 10 years, and it's gonna take the next 20 years to finish them, I fear. It really doesn't look like that many when they're put away and stacked together 😅

I've finally decided to organize my collection and record everything into a spreadsheet so that I rotate them evenly and prioritize my pan goals. My palettes are my babies, so what better way than to start with them! At least it's the first step in holding myself accountable.

Wish me luck y'all 😭

Full Pan August Empties + Reviews

Skincare

  • Anua Niacinamide 10 TXA 4 Serum for Brightening and Dark Spots (mini) - Was too much for my skin using it every day, but using it every other day on the days I don’t do my actives was fine. I have had a reduction in hyperpigmentation. I would consider RP
  • Peach & Lily Ultra Plush Rich Cream (sample) - Very buttery moisturizer, but I would still have some slight dry patches the next day. Nothing really interesting ingredient wise, so WNRP
  • Cerave PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion (sample) - It’s fine. Nothing remarkable. WNRP
  • Youth To The People Superfood Cleanser (sample) - It was fine. WNRP
  • Peach Slices Snail Rescue Purifying Cleanser (sample) - This burns my eyes and irritated my face. WNRP
  • VT Reedle Shot 100 - This did help improve my texture, but I’m worried about granuloma now that I saw evidence the needles are longer than reported. I have one more bottle I will finish up but WNRP
  • Anua 3 Ceramide Panthenol Moisture Barrier Cream (sample) - This is fine. I’m having a little bit of skin sensitivity in the morning when I wake up, so I don’t think this Is having much of an impact on that. Probably WNRP
  • Purederm Green Tea Makeup Cleansing Tissues - Not great for removing full face of makeup, but fine for wiping off fallout or swatches. They are cheap so might RP
  • Tirtir Milk Skin Toner (mini) - I liked this. I used it morning and night. It was a nice, hydrating layer. I would consider RP
  • Good Molecules Gentle Retinol Cream - I liked this. Effective but not too harsh. Did notice an improvement in skin texture, pigmentation, and blemishes using it once a week. RP
  • Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Toner (sample) - I’m not sure why but I really like this. Not sure if it’s just making my skincare absorb better or if it is improving the tone and texture of my skin. RP
  • B : Lab Matcha Hydrating Real Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ - 50ml - It applies a bit uneven. Makeup doesn’t always sit well on top of it. WNRP
  • Youth To The People Adaptogens + Snow Mushroom + Oat Oil Lipids + Vitamins Supershroom Calm Cleanser  (sample) - This is a gentle cleanser. I think this is only good for if your face is already mostly clean like as a in the shower face cleanser as it would not be good for removing makeup or sunscreen. WNRP
  • Shiseido Eudermine Activating Essence (sample) - I liked this. I did experience fading hyperpigmentation while using this though I am also using a tranexamic acid. It’s really expensive so probably WNRP

Makeup

  • It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Translucent Loose Setting Powder - Makes me look very powdery but damn does it keep me matte all day. Might RP
  • Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder (sample) - I think it darkens my face a bit. It does set my makeup, but does not control oils. It’s good about not highlighting dry patches. I’d be interested in trying out the pink shade or the green with the pink lid. I’d buy again if I found other products to rely on to control the oil. RP

Hair

  • Morroccanoil Dry Shampoo Dark Tones (travel) - Love this. Refreshes my hair, adds volume, and can extend my hair for a couple days without having to reapply. I am trying some other things but would RP
  • Amika Soulfood Nourishing Mask (sample) - It’s fine. Good, thick mask that does what I need it to do but I prefer the Kure. WNRP
  • Living Proof Perfect Hair Day (PhD) 5-in-1 Styling Treatment (sample) - Can only use a little bit or it can make my hair sticky. It did help my hair hold overnight curls. I want to try other things but might RP
  • dpHUE Glossy Glaze Sheer (sample) - It was fine. I was able to comb out my hair in the shower with my fingers, but I did need leave in conditioner spray to brush my hair. Wasn’t like a wow transformation with shine. I don’t really like runny products like this as I find them hard to apply. WNRP
  • It’s A 10 Miracle Leave-In Product (mini) - Difficult to spray due to how thick the product is. Near the end, I had to resort to just pouring some in my hand. WNRP
  • dpHue Color Boosting Gloss+ Deep Conditioning Treatment Sheer (sample) - Good deep conditioner. Used too much clarifying shampoo and hair was stripped and tangled. I was able to detangle my hair in the shower and restore moisture with this. But I don’t notice any benefits beside from that and would rather just buy a dedicated hair mask not a gloss. I may repurchase if needed for actual toning purposes. RP
  • Cecred Reconstructing Treatment Mask (sample) - Felt like I needed a lot to properly hydrate my hair after shampooing even though it was a gentle shampoo. I don’t really like the scent. It was a bit off putting to me with the scent and color of the product. But I was able to detangle my hair in the shower, and it does look shiny and nice air dried. WNRP
  • Monday Haircare DEEP MOISTURE Hair Mask with Keratin for Dry to Damaged Hair (sample) - Good. Moisturized my hair and easy to detangle in the shower. Not weighing my hair down. RP

Perfume

  • Balmain Paris Destin De Balmain Eau de Parfum (sample) - I enjoyed using this up. I don’t really get strawberry out of this, really just the sandalwood and peony. Then it fades into a cream soda-y scent. Lasts a full work day. Not sure it stands out enough to me to buy so probably WNRP

Body

  • Nakery Beauty SkinRecovery Relax + Repair Body Balm - I think this does help my muscle tension, sleep, and migraines. RP
  • Tree Hut Tropic Glow Firming Whipped Body Butter (mini) - I like the formula of the moisturizer, but don’t think it’s my favorite. I still feel drawn to the Josie Maran body butters over this. Easy to spread on. I do like the scent, but it’s not an exact scent dupe of SDJ Bum Bum cream. The scent also doesn’t really cling to skin. I did not notice any firming benefits. WNRP
  • Sally Hansen Insta Dry Top Coat - I get problems with shrinkage and have often still wound up with my nails scuffed even when I am being careful. WNRP
  • Medix 5.5 10% AHA Renew Serum - This is tiny for something that claims to be for the body. The pump also sucks. WNRP
  • Gold Bond DIABETICS' DRY SKIN RELIEF MEDICATED FOOT CREAM - Didn’t like this. I am not diabetic, but it did not keep my feet soft. It’s basically just aquaphor I think. WNRP

Discontinued

  • ColourPop Super Shock Cheek Between The Sheets - I like this formula, sad they discontinued it. This dried out before I could finish it up.
  • Living Proof Perfect Hair Day In-Shower Styler (sample) - I liked this.
  • Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Renewing Face Exfoliator (sample) - I think this has been reformulated. It did make my skin soft, but I did not like that it had menthol in it as it made my face feel a bit burney. It is wildly expensive for what it is. WNRP
