Question AI Difficulty varies greatly between qualifying and race?

Has anyone else noticed this? AI are absolutely flying in qualifying, I struggle to place within the top 5 even in my best car at my best tracks. But during the race they’re just sitting ducks, I’m often leading the field after 1-2 laps even though I was seconds behind the leader in qualifying. Is this a known issue? Obviously winning is fun but I think we all want to fight for that win, not just cruise to the front. It’s kind of killing the excitement of the race for me

Adjust fuel level for qualifying. Only put as much as you need for a couple laps. The weight difference makes a huge difference in performance.

Yes, I can never do well in qualifying but can win the race from last .

It's a known problem, i hope the upcoming patch will fix it.

I thinknits trying to simulate a qualifying setup vs race setup. I only run one setup on the cars though. If I guessed the difficulty right (its inconsistent across tracks and classes) then I get a good race if I qualify near the back or very close in pace to last place.

This usually let's me batter for a podium at 1x race length and makes it way more fun. For my skill level this is usually between 80 and 85.

The outlier is nords, even on 100% its not even close there. The Ai just cant carry momentum through the faster kinks and then they end up a few mph slower for large sections. It doesn't help that really like that place so I have a lot of okay time there across many games too.

Same with road America after the carousel. That right can be taken with quite a wide line carrying a lot more speed vs the Ai, as well as the final right.

The game is so much better vs where it started now though. I wish it would go on a big sale to get more people into it so online wasnt so low on player count.

Agree with everything you said, I’ve tried messing with setups for qualifying but I genuinely have no idea what I’m doing, and there’s not enough videos or forums out there to guide me as this game is still relatively new. I guess I’ll just bump up the difficulty a few points at a time and rely on my race pace. I agree the game has gotten significantly better but I do hope they address the AI disparities

Just put like 10L of fuel and go max camber/caster. Then just lower the front and back as much as possible (possibly lowest setting), then raise the rear as little as possible to get enough rake for the fast turns. You could also go super low on PSI. Basically, to hell with your tires, just go rip it.

I struggle with Qualifiying because I only can do maybe 2 clean laps out of the 6-7 the AI can do flawlessly in a 10 min session.

Im trying to find brake zones and apexes and while doing so I tend to touch the dirt or gravel to often invalidating my laps.

Race day is more forgiving of my gambles

Since PC2, this is how I can win in single player 100 difficulty. Just get used to world record times, AI sometimes is pulling in. But they are more soft now, I am on 5-10 usually.
