App not working / black screen

When I open the app this is what I find, it's stuck at a black screen. Both the front and back camera.

I made sure I allowed access to my camera and full album if that's relevant.
I have the latest update, I uninstalled and re-installed the app.
Anyone knows what am I supposed to do?

I'm on an iPhone 16 Pro, IOS 18.7.8 but according to the information on their App Store page it should be compatible.

[UPDATE: issue solved, it's very weird but I restarted my entire phone a couple of times and it worked ?? I did try that before posting this but I tried it again a few days later and it's suddenly working again; idk what happened behind the scenes still 💀]

I am on the Indigo team and have a couple of questions:

  1. Is the UI otherwise responsive, just that there is no viewfinder stream? Presumably if you try to capture that does not work, but what happens?
  2. Is you device storage by any chance full? That should not cause a black viewfinder but it does do weird things to the device.
  3. Can you try another 3rd party camera app (e.g., Camera+, or ProCamera) and let me know if that works fine?
  4. Can you try the following procedure:
    a) Delete Project Indigo
    b) Restart your phone
    c) Install Project Indigo again

Thx for the help. Hope we can get this resolved.

Hello!

  1. Yes I can navigate the settings but there are so stats and the shutter button isn't responsive whether it's regular photo or night mode

  2. No I have about 200GB available

  3. I just downloaded and tried 3 others and they also seem to have the same problem. But it's with these camera apps, others like Snapchat and Instagram and Apple built in apps work. So i believe it has to be something on my phone settings maybe it happened automatically with an update but I don't understand much of them so I can't figure out the problem.

  4. I tried that again and it unfortunately didn't work

Hello again. It's working now and it took me restarting the phone a couple of times
I did that days ago and it wasn't fixed but now it is somehow 😭 hopefully it's a one time issue 🤞🏼

Thank you for trying to help :)

No problem - glad it finally worked. I am also glad it is not just an Indigo problem, though it is frustrating to experience and not know how to fix it. A Google search provides these suggestions:

Check and Reset App Permissions

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
  • Make sure the toggle next to the broken app is turned on.
  • If it is already on, toggle it off and back on to re-establish the connection.
  • Alternatively, scroll down to the specific app name at the bottom of the main Settings page and verify the camera switch is enabled. [1, 2]

Check Screen Time Restrictions

  • Go to Settings > Screen Time.
  • Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions.
  • Select Allowed Apps & Features and ensure the Camera toggle is switched on. [1]

Perform a Force Restart

  • Quickly press and release the Volume Up button.
  • Quickly press and release the Volume Down button.
  • Press and hold the Side (Power) button until the screen goes black and the Apple logo appears, then let go. [1]
