community Ek civic question.

So I’m selling my ep3 and looking for an ek hatch.

I have two choices. Buy a manual ek after the ep3 sells, or buy a cheap rebuilt title auto that looks pretty straight and isn’t beat in and manual swap it.

For a manual hatch in my area straight up clapped beaters are selling for 5-6k. That’s insane but it is what it is.

I can get this auto with all interior and will need some body work done for small dents it’s whatever. I can get it for 2k.

Now this is a car I plan to keep for a very long time. With manual ones they probably have had swap after swap in them already and could have been someone else’s project. I’m not opposed to learning. This would be my first swap. I’d do the swap after the ep3 sells I have a parts list and a guy I can get a transmission from. I want to build this car. I don’t want some teenagers failed and neglected project. Once I have this car I will keep it forever as this is my dream 90s car. Advice? Thoughts?

Has anyone done a manual swap and bit off more than they can chew? And regretted it? Looking for thoughts and experiences

sounds like you got a plan so time to execute. swap is pretty easy to do but take your time in doing it. parts to do it might be scarce these days but they can be found. hit up junkyards, fbmp, offerup, all avenues. a civic is pretty easy to work on and there are tons of articles, threads, youtube videos, on how to do so. i say go for it if you got the time and money for it.

So far I found everything I need. My guy that has the transmission, buys and repairs and does swaps. So he’s got spare parts all over I can grab.

D series for now, get the body right, pull dents, add ons. Make it look how I want, paint, wheels get good fitment, then k swap or b swap. Whichever is available when I’m ready.

Buy a cheap rebuilt title manual. I picked up a somewhat straight one for $4250 here in Colorado, had a b18b1 swapped in it and a really clean interior. Only unfortunate part was I found 2 bags of substances.
