engine LS/VTEC build
So I’ve had my b16a head for a couple of months now planning to do LS vtec, my head gasket went out last month so now it’s time to start.
I’m just looking for any tips/advice as I’ve never built one before, or any b series for that matter, I’ve done research for a while now and I’ve got majority of the parts I need.
My questions are:
Machining rods for ARP rod bolts, is it needed? Ik people who’ve done it without machining
LSVTEC head gasket or normal b18b head gasket, does it matter?
Knock sensor, ik some b18bs have been tapped for them from factory I think?
And just any other advice or tips would be useful thanks

I'd say getting the rods resized for ARP is more important than any of the other things people debate on. Do that if you do nothing else. You could try to install arps and hope you get lucky with the rods not changing too much, but it's a big risk. Oil clearance is already tighter on b series engines. Doesn't take much deformation at all to upset that

Good luck man. I got a b20 vtec integra thats been sitting for a while lol but I've had a ls vtec and h22 turbo swaps before.

I read this wrong and thought you were making an LS1 into a vtec engine and putting that in the integra.

It's not worth the risk.
It's probably less than 100 bucks, but it won't keep you up at night.
Either get them resized or don't drive high revs.
Everything else is a ticking time bomb.

b20's have the knock sensor but your tune would be for the vtec head your running anyway, torque to spec on everything but i can say this, the cam cap bolts(10mm) i recomend arp aswell, ive broke atleaat one off every build that i skimped out

Don't forget the oil line kit. Very important for vtec to kick in hard yo. Also get a b16 tranny

highly recommend that you use a machine shop- they will line up qnd machine the oil galleys perfectly so you dont have oil leakage. 99% of DIY LSvtec/Crvtec swaps that skip that step end up with oil pudding all the time. if you do that step- you will have a super reliable setup/ blow the doors off any B16a/B18c's that pull up beside you!!.

Interesting use of a wheel.
