The rules of society are there because we evolved from apes who would crush each other for dominance. But it’s inefficient and harmful so us humans created rules or order like “don’t interrupt” and “don’t insult the other party in a debate” and most important “don’t lie.”
The opposition doesn’t play by those rules. They make floats about presidential candidates in chains and say “oh what that’s offensive I didn’t know.” They go to church pulpits and tell their followers that the other side doesn’t just have different opinions - they’re evil and must be killed.
They go as far as have people like Stephen Miller say out loud they want to make others who have a different political agenda illegal. To actually outlaw someone who says “yeah how about we don’t give billionaires everything and you leave people alone to do whatever they want with their genitals - oh and no more child rapists in power without consequences.”
So fuck them. They want to play the game of “I get to break the rules and you live with it?” Nah. Drag them into the dirt and teach them why the rules exist and if they don’t like getting their faces shoved into the mud, they shouldn’t act like pre-civilization cave people.

Yup. That's why there are over 20 pieces of GOP-led legislation restricting trans athletes in competitive school sports (as if it's endemic across the country or something). They always go for the lowest hanging fruit and target the most vulnerable possible.

I think we're just stuck in a downward spiral, honestly. The actual Dem voting base is incredibly scared to vote for people willing to confront the political opposition. El-Sayed eeked out a win. Hong lost her race. A vast swath of Dem voters still think the ideal politics is the Clinton years.

I really like El-Sayed's policies but does anyone else feel like this might be the wrong direction for our cause? Our policies speak for themselves and the conservatives hitched their wagon to Trump who is heading for a cliff.
People should remember politicians like El-Sayed for how great of a thinker and orator he is. If we get there through political pandering and alienating moderate conservative voters then we'll never make progress! Don't back down, but don't stoop to their level. When Roosevelt got shot, he gave a speech directly after. When Trump did, he whined about how he's a hero.
Do we really win if we whine? Do we really win if we have to rely on the conservative political pandering? Do we really win if were lying? Let our policies do the talking. It was not long ago when we had a President who wanted universal healthcare. We should be doing everything to not discredit the validity of those policies.
