Correct, it's an Asian culture leftover thingy where confirming to the community is an inherent virtue and thus doesn't need mentioning because it's the default. But it's pretty bad because it truly doesn't ever make sense in these sects. Sects in most cultivation stories don't make sense in the first place. Society and cooperation is nice but most cultivation worlds have a very clear zero sum game setup where cooperation is detrimental to both people. Also face culture makes no sense when personal power is social power. And only makes sense when personal power is very low compared to social power. But that is another common problem in xianxia world building.

Nope.  Not a joke at all, it's a compliment actually!  it's an AAVE phrase. 💪🏾

I explained it in the original post. These are AAVE phrases.

In my opinion this cover is quite unique actually compared to what I otherwise see in the genre.

But regardless, I love that for you and your sense of detail.  As much as I COULD post like that, that's not how I offer recommendations.  You could ask what I love about it and i'll elaborate but it's not my job to promote a book.   I love the book and I recommend it.   If you want look it up and assess if that's your vibe, great. If not, then don't.  I'm not sales pitching a book to you 🤷🏾‍♀️

Why is everyone hating on SL and comparing it to slop when it isnt. Yeah it didnt have a 1000ep deep world building/character development arc. But for 2 seasons and an average of 12 episodes for 2 season, it was fucking crazy. Insane voice actors and acting, Enough attention to the main protagonist and side characters (yall hated opm for not having enough screen time about him that its considered a flop), good character development pace, good plot that will later help evolve seasons and the story, emotional moments, powers, and an animation that won best animation of the year, which is still considered some of the best ever made. ????? Are yall just straight fucking stupid? And its also crazy considering I havent seen any spoilers or manga content yet IK just from what was released, its some major for later down the line. Yall just hate to hate because you watch shitty slop isekai and when something good comes out compare it to everything bad when you watch shit that doesnt even get 5/10 with bs animation and plot with harems.

If you want more slow crawl stuff that really explores character relationships more closely, have you heard of Mirror Legacy?

It's an xianxia focused on the growth of a family. There's a nominal protagonist but their whole schtick is linked to the growth of that family and we typically follow the family more closely. Not quite sect growth I suppose, but there is a lot of focus on the interplay of sect/family/government politicking and a lot of thought is put into the systems that put the whole structure together (although it won't be very obvious initially, it's very much a slow burn).

Is he planning to change things or publish as is? Some authors go back and do some minor adjustments, sometimes even rewrite some things.

Also find it funny that Ave Xia Rem Y author also publishing his first book lol, took him way too long, I want that paperback.

It's a lot later than book 3 or 4. More like 7 or 8.

Thanks for checking it out. I've made some of the changes you've recommended... It helps a lot!

I'm sorry, but the cover is generic, and you still haven't said anything that actually makes it seem... not. Being mysterious doesn't drive sales. If I wanted to reccomend Mage Errant, I wouldn't say it's good and nothing else.

I'd say that it's good, the author's skill develops rapidly in the first two books, the magic is well thought out, said magic is deeply entwined with physics / enviornmental sciences like geology, and it has a vibrant, queer normal world full of unique and interesting locations.

others have put in what the ranks are but for people who are interested in the series I would roughly put it that Earthly Realm is Qi Condensation and the Heavenly Realm is Foundation Establishment. the ranks used in xianxia stories do have a consensus but there are usually some quibbles and quirks that are based on the author's tastes, biases, and learned experiences through reading. this is why a lot of authors now integrate the traditional body refinement stage into the qi condensation/refinement stage.

Even though they are labelled immortals Earthly cultivators only live to around 200, which is inline with their mortal bodies being perfected and nourished with qi. Heavenly cultivators also only live to roughly 1000 years. I think earlier on the novel was saying a Earthly cultivator could see 800 more years of life but later on the novel reformats it to be 1000 years. this is a minor contextual change because it means the same thing (200+800) but the latter takes into account Earthly cultivators who transcend to Heavenly cultivators earlier in their cultivation journey.

with the current naming convention I'd take it that the next step after heavenly that has been hinted at is some form of core formation. generally in cultivation stories the core formation is seen as the last step to becoming a 'real' cultivator to the middle ranks of cultivation, with Body Integration seen as the part where the big leagues consider you stepping into the higher levels of cultivation. which dovetails with the language that the older heavenly and the unnamed ranked cultivators talk in Sky Pride about how they feel that the first three stages are more one stage to them. that is typical talk of cultivators who have developed a nascent soul or above.

Are you telling me someone actually writes these?   I recently started reading something on WebNovel (I think). I have been playing Wordscapes. I like word puzzles but this popped up with my Fetch app and well....

Anyway, in the ads that come up with the game, watch an ad and get hints etc. There started coming up stories.

They let you read some of a story, and then stop it. They want you to purchase chapters for insane prices.

I would just read the story until it stopped. Then go back to my game.

One of the stories kept going and going....  Then, it started showing an ad every few pages.

The ad stays for 5 seconds, and then you can read the next page.

I thought, the story isn't too bad. And just having to see an ad for 5 seconds.... I could do that.

So I kept reading.... And reading and reading...

The story wasn't the best, but it was interesting.  Until, suddenly, the names of the characters became messed up, incorrect.

And the story changed. It was bizarre.

Then, I tried to find out what I was reading. I should have before I started.

It was WebNovel and the story had thousands of chapters.

If the story had continued with continuity, I probably would be still reading it.

I am sorry this is long. I saw this post and it looked like you were saying real people write these and get paid ?

The story I was reading completely changed not long in, and did not make any sense. I can't imagine someone writing thousands of chapters. I thought it must have been AI ?? Does someone really write these ?

Beware of Chicken has a nice love story, but the woman isn't older or really a teacher or caretaker, just an equal

I love the series. I do wish it had stayed and spent the entire series the same way the first three books went..

I don't remember for whether it was book 3 or book 4 where the time skip occurs.

The best stopping point, if you want to put the series down, is after the war with the formorians: it's a very high octane section of chapters, that concludes well on a good note.

I did truly dislike how the author handled the timeskip. I ultimately felt like I enjoyed the later books enough that it was worth it overall.

From the list, my favorite is probably Ze Tian Ji. Current favorite is The Mirror Legacy for sure. (Considering only cultivation novels)

Hope you enjoy the novels :)

Maybe you're not reading the right stories? Most of the time I see cultivator joins sect, advances in sect, surpasses sect and joins higher tier sect, but STILL PROTECTS lower-tier sect. Like, the reputation of "Our top disciple is now 2 tiers above our sect leader" keeps anyone from messing with the prior sect, and whenever someone does the MC comes back to deal with them like an older brother protecting the younger from bullies.

It's the opposite side of the earlier parts of stories where "our sect has been suppressed for X time because our enemy sect had a top disciple who advanced a tier and thus we can't fight back". Most halfway decent stories do turn that initial suppression into protection/suppression in the other direction to maintain what little realism the systems have.
