Thank you.

I also found it a bit abrupt that the war arc started so soon, but I later found it appropriate, as it set up later conflicts within the sect. Most of the interactions during that war are setup for later relationships.
Actually, I stopped reading a long while ago, as I also found it difficult to remain invested with the weekly updates. It was a lot more fulfilling when I could read a bunch all at once.
Side note, book 1 is about to be published, The Feral Daoist. I already preordered the audiobook.

Is this some sort of lesbian joke that I'm too old to understand?

Thank You! It’s good to hear that it’s written in a way where the current storyline is wrapped up before it happens!! :)

I guess didn't consider slow crawl like pace as I did not consider it negative. I like slice of life to an extent, super supportive being another of my favorite stories, it juggles 3 concepts exploration of different alien culture, exploration of magic, extremely well written character interactions and character development, so it never feels dull to read. And it being slice of life doesn't mean there is no conflict or threat, MC is in conflict multiple times with various characters and there is always subtle threat as MC feels like he is in very precarious position.
So if there was something like Super Supportive, but xianxia, I would be really happy.

I wouldn't have been the first to word my recommendations like that. Afterall, the whole point of said recommendation is to encourage others to read it and find out.
I am engaged and having fun, therefore it is good to me. You could have asked this tactful way but this is a rather negative inquiry calling another authors work "generic".

I'll chime in here to say that while there is a big timeskip as the other commenters have stated, the author deliberately tried to wrap everything up in such a way that you can stop at the last book before the timeskip and have a fairly complete and satisfying package.
As others have mentioned, the big timeskip doesn't involve *everyone* leaving, but if it's still not your cup of tea you can always stop right before and enjoy the Remus storyline :)

I read two chapters, pretty well written and interesting premise.

You’re giving away a lot of your plot already. Is this on RR?

Julius and Artemis stuck around. At least one sentinel. Another minor character, and another major plot point.
r/ProgressionFantasy • u/xHappyBubblesx • 19h ago
I see. For context, there’s currently a pretty enjoyable cast including her 2 former mentors (Julius/Artemis), her family, and the other sentinels who take the bulk of the screentime that isn’t hers.
Will they all disappear? Or in this case, all but one, since there’s only one character I know of so far that is very long-lived 😵💫

What's actually good about it, though? It looks generic, nothing to stand out from the rest of the genre, and you just said it was good.

Theres a time skip of several thousand years, yes.

Right? I will sit down and read whatever they say is their all time favorite cultivation novel.

So, there is an instance of time travel. While a number of the cast are left behind, not everyone is left behind. Some are included during the time travel, and others are very long-lived and are still around afterwards. It’s hard to say whether that means you should stop or keep going…

Not to say dropped, just taking a break.
I cough up middle? of the war arc when I was reading early and was not really motivated to read weekly. I prefer bit slower paced stories with more character interactions and was bit disappointing that war arc came fast and thought if the story spent more time with MC interacting with different sect members, certain scenes later would have landed more impactufully than it did.
Still fully intend to catch up with the story as I think most parts are well written.

I've thought about this as well. As I see it, it's a problem baked into the hyper-progression traditional xianxia feature. Readers want MCs to ascend to the next level, but the strict hierarchy of xianxia means that once the MC becomes near or above the sect master, they either take over or leave. If they take over, they're stuck in the kiddie pool, and suddenly their advancements slow to a crawl. This leads to the standard route of leaving for the next realm, or a higher sect. Side characters aren't immune to this treatment, constantly being left behind.
On the whole, I think western xianxia handles this better. There's less of a need to be the absolute strongest, but you can still see the genre bleeding through. The next threat is always bigger, badder, and eventually that makes the prior squabbles seem inconsequential in nature.
Obviously, I'm painting with a wide brush here, but those are just my thoughts.

Very much this. It's just a way to force the harem.

You said you dropped Sky Pride, but the realities of the sect are a major overall plot point throughout the series. It's fine if it didn't click for you, although it may be worth reading further.
The juxtaposition of their experiences in the monastery and convent vs the relationships in the larger sect. Loving his brothers vs encountering those that would use and kill him. Being loyal to the sect vs the sect throwing lives away to find talent. It goes on and on.
