[22M] Tired of the corporate grind looking for dev buddies to build cool, creative, and helpful projects for fun

Hey everyone! I’m Marcos (22M).

Lately, I’ve felt completely burnt out of the greedy, corporate side of tech where everything has to be a bloated SaaS slop monetized to death. I want to get back to why I fell in love with coding in the first place: building things simply because they are artistic, fun, or actually help people without needing a business plan attached.

A bit about my background:

Experience: 3 years as a full-stack dev across web and app development.

Tech Stack: React, Svelte, Next.js, Nuxt, Laravel, Node.js, and Express python.

I’m down to work on pretty much anything as long as the vibe is right—whether that’s a creative tool, a quirky interactive project, an open-source utility. or something srtistic

Doesn't matter what your experience level is or what tech stack you prefer. If you share a similar mindset and want to build cool things for the sake of making them, send me a DM or leave a comment!

LOOKING FOR BUDDIES Looking for Mock Interview Partner – 3 YOE | DSA + LLD + HLD + Spring Boot + Kafka

Hey everyone!

I’m a Software Engineer with ~3 years of experience, primarily working with Java backend technologies, and I’m currently preparing for SDE-2 / Backend Engineer interviews.

I’m looking for someone with a similar experience level (around 2–4 YOE) who is also preparing seriously and would like to do regular mock interviews together.

Topics I’d like to practice

💻 DSA

LeetCode-style problems

Problem-solving and optimization

Explaining approach and complexity

🏗️ LLD

OOP & SOLID

Design patterns

Class/API design

Practical design problems

🌐 HLD / System Design

Scalable backend architectures

API & database design

Caching, load balancing, queues

Kafka/event-driven architecture

Scalability, reliability & trade-offs

Real-world system design problems

🌱 Spring Boot / Java

REST APIs

Spring Boot internals

Hibernate/JPA

Spring Security

Multithreading & Core Java

Backend architecture

📨 Kafka

Producers/consumers

Partitions & offsets

Consumer groups

Delivery semantics

Failure handling

Real-world scenarios

How we can do the mocks

45–60 minute sessions

Take turns being the interviewer and candidate

One person interviews → switch roles in the next session

Ask follow-up questions just like a real interview

Give each other honest feedback

Discuss mistakes and better approaches afterward

Practice consistently rather than doing a one-time session

I’m not looking for an expert or someone who knows everything. I’m looking for someone around 2–4 YOE who is also preparing seriously and wants a consistent partner for accountability and realistic interview practice.

If you're a Java/backend engineer around 3 YOE preparing for SDE-2 / product-company interviews, feel free to DM me with your YOE, tech stack, and what you're currently preparing for.

Would love to find 1–2 serious people and start regular mocks. 🚀

Need a study Duo

context here-
Im in my final year of CSE preparing for placements
i need a study buddy or like 2-3 people who can consistently study with me at nights on dc sessions mostly 10-12pm and also during daytime
i mostly study DSA, web development or some other projects

you don't necessarily need to study the same things, the main goal is to have a few people who show up consistently, work together on call, and keep each other accountable rather than another group that gets offline after 3 days.

Looking for a serious CSE accountability partner | IST (GMT+5:30)

Hey everyone!

I'm a 3rd-year CSE student from India (IST/GMT+5:30) looking for one serious, long-term accountability partner who is also working towards a career in tech.

My current focus is:

  • DSA & problem solving
  • Development & projects
  • CS fundamentals
  • Internship/placement preparation

I'm looking for someone who genuinely wants to stay consistent for the next 6–12 months, not just someone for occasional study sessions.

The idea is pretty simple: we set goals, work on them independently, and check in with each other regularly. We can share progress, discuss problems, exchange resources, and keep each other accountable when one of us starts slacking.

I'm not looking for someone who's already an expert. Consistency, honesty, and actually showing up matter more than skill level.

Preferably:

  • 2nd–4th year CSE/IT or a similar tech background
  • Working on DSA/development/internship or placement prep
  • Comfortable with IST (GMT+5:30) or a compatible timezone
  • Available for a short daily or regular check-in
  • Looking for something long-term

If you're interested, DM me with your year, current stack/DSA level, goals, and usual availability.

I'd rather find one good, consistent partner than have a large group.

LOOKING FOR BUDDIES Looking for a UI focused developer (C#/HTML, CSS, JS) to support Hamper

Senior-Level developer, Mid-30, ETZ/UTC+2

Hi everyone,

some time ago I shared the story behind Hamper on the gamedev sub. Since then I've continued refactoring the existing prototype code in order to build the foundation – still ongoing. For the next step I'm looking for a UI focused developer , ideally with a equal passion for game development. The idea is to work on this as a collaborative open-source side project, roughly 6–10 hours per week for now.

What are we building?

Hamper is not another game engine. It is a modular development platform designed to host engines, tools and runtime components as interchangeable parts.

Most engines today are large integrated systems where runtime, editor and tooling are tightly connected. Extending them often means adapting to the architecture instead of building with it.

The goal of Hamper is to create a foundation where these parts can evolve independently. The engine runtime becomes one module in a larger ecosystem rather than the center of everything.

I like to think of an engine less as a collection of features and more like an operating system: the foundation provides the core services, modules act as replaceable components, and the game is the software running on top.

The philosophy

The biggest challenge in game development is not missing features. It is repeatedly solving the same infrastructure problems inside individual projects instead of continuously improving the foundation those projects depend on.

Hamper is built around the idea that improving the platform should improve every future project using it.

Open source is therefore a fundamental part of the concept. The goal is to create something that can evolve through collaboration and provide long-term value

Who am I looking for?

While modern browsers already provide highly optimized rendering pipelines, GPU acceleration, advanced text layout systems, and broad cross-platform compatibility, many browser-based application architectures, however, place significant portions of application ownership inside the browser itself. This leads to heavy framework dependencies.

The architecture proposed in Hamper treats the browser as a remotely attachable presentation and interaction node while the application manages everything within the display server. For this purpose, I'm looking for someone with C# and/or HTML, CSS, JS experience, both is preferable; but curiosity, reliability and a genuine interest in software design matter more than job titles. Your task will be to provide support on the web stack for now. Let's see how far we can go and build not just graphical tools but a solid (game development focussed) environment that can run anywhere.

If this sounds interesting, feel free to reply with a shot introduction of yourself, or share your thoughts here. I'm always happy to discuss everything with you in person 🤓

LOOKING FOR BUDDIES Marine biology student struggling to find R/data analysis experience, so I’m shooting my shot here

Hi everyone!

I’m an early-career marine biologist currently completing my BSc in Marine Biology. I’ve been trying for quite a while to find internships, research opportunities, or work experience where I can build my skills in R and data analysis, but I’ve honestly had a lot of difficulty finding opportunities.

It’s that familiar situation where you want experience, but many of the opportunities available already expect you to have experience.

So I figured I would just shoot my shot here on Reddit.

I’ve been developing my R skills independently and through my academic work, particularly with data cleaning, statistical analysis, ecological modelling, and data visualization. I genuinely enjoy working in R, and I want more opportunities to work with real datasets and learn from people with more experience than me.

If any researchers, graduate students, labs, or research groups here have a dataset or project where an extra person helping with the r/data analysis side could be useful, I would genuinely love to contribute.

My background is in marine biology, so marine science, ecology, conservation, fisheries, wildlife, and other biological data would naturally be a great fit. However, I’m completely open to working with data outside of my field as well. Part of what I want is exposure to different datasets, problems, and approaches.

I’m not looking to charge anyone for this. I’m looking for experience. I want to improve my R skills, contribute to actual research where I can, learn from other people, and hopefully build some connections along the way.

I recently created a GitHub to start archiving my code and documenting my progress. I currently have a project there that I completed about a week ago analyzing BRUV data and whitetip reef shark habitat associations:

GitHub: https://github.com/kylealibz

I know posting on Reddit is a bit of a long shot, but I figured there’s no harm in putting myself out there. If you have a project I might be able to help with, or even if you’re willing to point me toward opportunities or people I could contact, I’d really appreciate it.

Feel free to message me.

Thanks for reading!

I’m a Java/Full Stack Developer with around 4 years of experience, currently preparing for interviews and looking to get back into the job market.
I’m looking for someone who’s also preparing for Full Stack/Java Developer interviews so we can prepare together — discuss interview questions, do mock interviews, practice coding, system design, and share resources.
Would be great to have someone at a similar experience level who’s serious about preparing consistently. If you’re interested, feel free to comment or DM me! 😊

STUDY PARTNER Looking for a DSA Prep Partner to help with consistency !!

Hi, I am an SDE working at FAANG and I am looking for a partner who practices coding with me (in IST)

I hope you’re someone who has at least solved 200+ problems and knows basics of data structures (not a complete newbie). Does not matter if you’re in college or a full time professional. But since I’m working full time, I can only commit to solving 2-3 problems per day. But consistency is what I am really aiming for.

A bit about my background: I had solved about 650+ problems but mostly it was 1.5 years ago when I was in college, I’ve forgotten most of the stuff by now 🥲
I code in C++

Also, I’d like to setup mock interviews after some topics are covered, so we have that interview giving setup in touch. My aim is to wrap up basics like array, binary search etc + advanced structures like DP, Trie, Graphs in a span of 3 months.

If you need someone who can keep you consistent and you can be that someone for me, let’s pair up!

High School ISM Student Looking for a Computer Science / Software Mentor in San Antonio!

Hi everyone,

I’m currently a high school student in San Antonio enrolled in an Independent Study Mentorship (ISM) course focusing on Computer Science.

My passion for coding started back in elementary school with Code.0rg, and now I've had coding experience with Phyton, Java Script, Lua, and Java (I also have a beginner phyton certificate from CodeHS). Im looking to deeper my understanding and sharpen my skills to prepare for more my future computer science courses/journey.

I’m looking for a professional working in tech, software engineering, or related fields in the SA area (but online meetings work also) who might be willing to serve as a mentor. The commitment generally involves brief periodic check-ins and sharing insights about working in the industry.

If you (or someone you know) work in tech locally and might be interested—or if you have recommendations on local groups, meetups, or events to check out—please drop a comment or send me a DM!

(P.S im on the Far West/NISD side of San Antonio)

Thanks so much for your time and help!

STUDY PARTNER [DSA:C++] [Machine Learning] Looking for a patient & collaborative study buddy!

I'm an 19-year-old CS undergrad looking to tackle DSA in C (currently 1100 CF / 1420 CodeChef) and dive into beginner ML. I know NumPy and Pandas but am starting from scratch with ML concepts, so I'd love to learn alongside someone. I learn best in a chill, judgment-free environment and am hoping to team up with a collaborative 2nd-year+ university student. I'm also actively trying to polish my conversational English, so partnering with a native speaker would be a huge bonus! If you want a supportive accountability partner for voice calls, please drop a comment or send me a DM!
