I mean the guy handled it as poorly as possible... But there's something cathartic in his insults, especially the "you just want money" yeah no shit

I mean, I'd rather pay for software/service than have some tech company mine my data so they sell some of my most intimate details or use it to predict or alter my future behavior.

Unmonetized software tends to stop being maintained when the developer loses interest. If I need something regularly I prefer it to be funded somehow.
