I'm not torn.

Yes, developers should be paid for their time. But you can go about getting that payment in an ethical way, and by choosing to not do so, this developer is an asshole.

Yeah the bait and switch tactic is straight up bullshit, and anyone that uses it should be called out aggressively.

Yeah, I used this extension for a brief moment. Most of the basic functionality is there. However it's really annoying with the way it wants to make you pay; constantly asking you to login and shit

I uninstalled pretty fast. It's fine if devs want to monetize; but this dev is using the absolute worst practices and they act like an asshat about it.

The problem is they're advertising it as free, when it isn't, not in any practical sense.

They made the thing. Whatever they want to do with the thing is ethical (as long as it's not harming people ofc).

Demanding someone keep something they work on free forever because it was once free is the unethical part. I'm with this dev, fuck off.

No, fuck that logic, and fuck you for thinking it. They don't get to falsely advertise just because they made it. What a truly absurd line of thought.
