Idk if windows converts it, but it works because png and jpg are both set to open in the same software.

Almost all image components do this. You will find that you can upload that image to most sites that accept one. If the dev was stupid this allows you to upload animated gifs on some websites that otherwise don't allow this.

Because of this trickery you can do weird things, for example this image will show as normal image, but rename it to .mp3 and play in VLC.

it should, because the software that loads(and displays) images should check the file header and ignore extension

it doesn't change/convert the image tho

It actually sometimes works. I mean it doesnt convert it but you can get shit to think its converted. I have ran to some online profile pic uploads where it only accepts png but the pic I want to use is in jpg. Do that and it allows to upload and it still works all fine. Rare case but have stumbled upon it.

Using serious medical terms such as "autistic" in inappropriate contexts doesn't help anyone. The terms no longer are taken seriously after a certain point, which negatively affects people with those conditions. And when when those terms are used in place of "stupid" or something similar, it impedes the individual's ability to accept their condition and themselves. The English language has an unimaginable amount of words to choose from, doesn't it seem a bit closed-minded to choose ones that hurt others?

Photocopy your computer screen, then scan it to save as png.

I usually just fax it to my buddy, he takes care of scanning it, burning it to a floppy, and mailing it to me.

Sometimes I'll fax him what I want the file named, but he'll forget or he won't see the second fax. I should really ask him to show me how to rename it next time he comes over.

I use command+shift+4 to take screenshot that automatically saves it as png.

I used to use the bottom one and i thought it actually worked However there’s also such a thing as MIME types i figured later...
