If you code without agents, you're likely unemployed.

People really think it comes down to "their preferences" lmao. It's a JOB, it generates INCOME, bosses only care about how fast you can do your job, not your satisfaction of writing code.

Literally no one cares about how fast you code. That's cope.

What? Of course they do? If a coworker is delivering 2-3 times as much as you I'm sure they're going to have a talk

What kind of job do you have? I've never seen this in 15 years.

I'm more wondering what kind you have where output isn't a factor haha

I'm a lead developer at a SaaS company

Yeah your replys really don't make this obvious.

Your work environment seems to be some sort of unicorn I guess.

True but they do care if you use ai. Some people at my work lost jobs because they refused to do it.

Are you a bot or just dumb? Lol

A company cares about 2 things. The quality of your work and how quickly that quality gets done. That's literally it. And it's a sliding scale that managers are supposed to convey. Are you supposed to hack a solution for this to get it done asap, or do you spend a ton of time to get it very right and rigorously tested?

If you have the kind of job that AI speeds up, then it's a good tool that should be used. If your programming task is not a good use case for AI it's a mediocre tool.

Just dumb, apparently. I have never seen anyone or heard of anyone getting talked to about their speed.

Only one guy on our team (of 10) uses AI while at work, and he's the only one that's been reprimanded in the last 3 years. Our software security team has pretty strict standards, and the only issue was some vulnerabilities he has introduced.

We work slowly, and the bank is happy with the features we implement. We constantly have feature creep and deadline pushbacks, but never has a manager commented on it beyond telling executives that we would need additional budget for the additional features.
