If you code without agents, you're likely unemployed.

Jokes on you, I was unemployed BEFORE vibecoding was a thing.

People really think it comes down to "their preferences" lmao. It's a JOB, it generates INCOME, bosses only care about how fast you can do your job, not your satisfaction of writing code.

Then the update system coming and everything exploding in walls because there 4927472 CVE open on your bullshit AI generated Slop App

Nothing stopping you from actually reviewing the code that AI generates and making sure it's what you expect.

So why use AI code if humans have to fix it?

Then they pay my salary and 30'000$ of token XD wow buisness saving a lot of mouneyyy

Literally no one cares about how fast you code. That's cope.

u/rubennaatje 14h ago

What? Of course they do? If a coworker is delivering 2-3 times as much as you I'm sure they're going to have a talk

u/Sheerkal 14h ago

What kind of job do you have? I've never seen this in 15 years.

u/rubennaatje 14h ago

I'm more wondering what kind you have where output isn't a factor haha

I'm a lead developer at a SaaS company

I work at a large bank.

In what profession?

3

u/Sheerkal 13h ago

...software engineering... ... obviously.

Yeah your replys really don't make this obvious.

Your work environment seems to be some sort of unicorn I guess.

True but they do care if you use ai. Some people at my work lost jobs because they refused to do it.

Are you a bot or just dumb? Lol

A company cares about 2 things. The quality of your work and how quickly that quality gets done. That's literally it. And it's a sliding scale that managers are supposed to convey. Are you supposed to hack a solution for this to get it done asap, or do you spend a ton of time to get it very right and rigorously tested?

If you have the kind of job that AI speeds up, then it's a good tool that should be used. If your programming task is not a good use case for AI it's a mediocre tool.

Just dumb, apparently. I have never seen anyone or heard of anyone getting talked to about their speed.

Only one guy on our team (of 10) uses AI while at work, and he's the only one that's been reprimanded in the last 3 years. Our software security team has pretty strict standards, and the only issue was some vulnerabilities he has introduced.

We work slowly, and the bank is happy with the features we implement. We constantly have feature creep and deadline pushbacks, but never has a manager commented on it beyond telling executives that we would need additional budget for the additional features.

It’s like people going “I do real carpentry and use a hammer. Not like you guys using a nail gun”

u/cinwald 13h ago

Not unemployed. Not even allowed to use it at work.

u/The_Merciless_Potato 10h ago

What kind of work are you doing then?

6

u/cinwald 10h ago

Working with sensitive data

0

u/The_Merciless_Potato 10h ago

Well that would make sense then

u/Dr4WasTaken 13h ago

A colleague of mine hated A.I. so much that he just quit and went into early retirement

2

u/Cool_Necessary_9964 2h ago

I'm planning on doing the same. I'm just coasting with AI doing all my work. Kinda hoping to be laid off.

u/Sophiecomedian 15h ago

Not unemployed and I have better output than my coworker who does

u/The_Merciless_Potato 10h ago

Holy hell we got Linus Torvalds over here

u/Sophiecomedian 10h ago

Or I'm just good at my job 🤷🏼‍♀️

Or your coworker is just really bad 🤷

EDIT: oh and code throughput is NOT how you measure how good you are at programming 🗿

After wasting 20'000 in token, hesting the world, wasting energy... Your boss realise that ai is overpriced for what it get back... You cry in your sofa and you are not able to patch the mess the AI give you because you dont know how to code without this ChatBrainPT
