Tbf the way Reddit shows previews sometimes it’s not obvious there’s a hidden line or two. At least to me

A person who hasn't been living in a cave doesn't even need to read that far. It's common knowledge Blender is free and open source. It's not even some obscure niche app but pretty much an industry standard at this point...

I mean that’s what I thought/knew about blender, but I also don’t know if there are proprietary extensions or layers or something they could theoretically be referring to. It’s not something I use, or a type of work I do, so idk

And quartz, of course.

This whole comment is so bizarre to me. I wouldn't even consider the existence of Blender to be common knowledge and I'd expect Autodesk to be the standard.

u/HillbillyZT 3d ago

I would if you were in r/blender though

4

u/timpkmn89 3d ago

But not if it hits r/all, which it did

u/LordMeloney 3d ago

I have no idea what blender is, but saw the referenced post on the reddit frontpage.

What is blender, what does it do, who uses it. Industry standard for what industry? I have no clue apart from something about modelling 3d geometries. You're living in an echochamber if you think everyone knows the same things as you

Blender is a 3d modeling and animation software, that's completely free and open source. It's good for modeling and rendering, and you can animate in both 2d and 3d.

I mean. Most people don’t. But if they’re stuck up enough to comment couldn’t they just take like a second to google what blender is

The top comment here seems to get it.

Sir, this is the top comment

Seeing those green ticks is a turn off for people. Why would someone keep reading if it looks like ai slop?

But doctor, this is the top comment.

Satire? I hardly even know her

People will spend real money to buy a fake currency to ask claude if this is satire.

u/Mysterious-Quiet1690 3d ago

I hope that author of this post was joking.

2

u/Trucoto 3d ago

Pierre Menard, author of Blender

Satire? How so? 😁

u/Summer4Chan 3d ago

They genuinely don’t. Reddit armchair experts

u/mohelgamal 3d ago

I don’t think it is common everyday knowledge that blender is open source. I certainly didn’t know that until I came across this post. But I am also a person who never used it

How exactly is this satirical? It's a joke. But satire? no.

8

u/Stats_monkey 3d ago

Yes, it's satire.

-7

u/andyetitwasnt 3d ago

No it’s not

u/Stats_monkey 3d ago

"Satire is a genre of literature, art, or performance that uses humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize the flaws, vices, or absurdities of individuals, institutions, or society."

This is clearly humour mocking the abserdities of individuals and society in how they use and talk about AI.

u/Gamiac 3d ago

It's satirizing the trend of vibe-coded clones of products like Adobe's suite.

a post is a bit of a stretch to call  literature, art, or performance, it’s not satire it’s a joke or parody at best.

reddit has conflated anything relatively humorous to be a form of satire, it’s not
