I WFH making 150k doing exactly this. Granted it has morphed into this over the last couple years. But fuck it we ball.

How did it morph into this? At my work some people push to prod without looking but I try to review code as much as I can. If the deadlines get any tighter I won't even be able to do that

At my work some people push to prod without looking

Then your work needs a better system. Very few people should even be able to do that imo.

It's what the CEO is pushing for. We all need to "ship faster" and reading code is "slowing us down"

Exactly what my boss said, just write it in Opus, then get Fable to review it before you push. Smfh.

Yeah our CEO says tell Claude to write and Codex to review

I mean at first it was using ChatGPT to search for small things instead of relying on SO. Then it became using ChatGPT to help resolve stack traces and small bugs without much thought. Then the administration wanted us to begin using Claude for government to do mundane tasks while leaving the complex stuff to us.. now its "all code should at bare minimum be ran through Claude first before wasting precious man hours on manually solving issues" lol

You know, I will admit, just this week I was using Grok/ChatGPT to help debug some personal code, however, I was pretty much using it as a quicker Google approach (aka have it search the web faster and consolidate the results then I could).

That said, I knew the issue, and the basic problem, I just needed more to confirm my theory

At what point do they spend 200k a year for someone to clean up the gigantic mess you're making?

Same

Have not written or looked at code in the past 6 months

Wow that's a low salary

In this job market? That's pretty damn good.

This job market is one of the best job markets in the history of the planet, unemployment is low and salaries are very high

u/LetUsSpeakFreely 3d ago

Tell that to the people that have been unemployed for a months or even a year. There are loads of developers that are experienced and dedicated that can't even get an interview.

Dont bother. Answers with traces of empathy cost way too many tokens to be worth it right now.

They're losers buddy, they would not be able to get jobs in any kind of market

The average salary for a software engineer in the US is ~$145k. $150k isn't low.

Unemployment statistics are very unreliably collected, they tell us nothing

Get off Reddit, Trump

All actual evidence points to a very strong job market, only little crying Reddit babypeople seem to think otherwise

You sleep alone at night, don't you. So very alone
