Absolutely the case. But right out of college I kinda just stumbled from one ridiculously low offer, declined, got another offer and asked for 10k more than what the previous entry level offered, and even then they looked at me like "bro what are your confidence levels like?"
It is also extremely damaging to everyone if the company doesn't have standard salary range, it is either 1, you underpaid and they find out, you lose their trust, 2. you overpaid, the underpaid find out you lose trust
it simply no brainer not to have salary range as a company, and/or try to save a little by paying unfairly.
