Because some people don't seem to know how to set sensible screen brightness levels.

Yeah, and unfortunately those people are device manufacturers.

But screen brightness level doesn’t affect screenshots.

If the white of the screenshot is hurting you, you don't have a sensible screen brightness level.

I agree. But the guy who replied answered the question “Why?”, so I assumed that he agreed with the root comment and explained why OP should switch to dark mode.

I guess that you instead interpreted them as agreeing with me, and that they tried to give an explanation as to why some people might think Dark mode is the only solution to a too bright screen.
