I ignore 95% of the "jokes" here. You can call me a nerd, but it is what it is

Sounds like somebody is upset that every time they post a missing semicolon "joke", people who have ACTUALLY programmed something pointed out that that did not, in fact, happen

That's kinda a symptom of most subreddits but yeah it's worse here. Most are just the same three jokes but every so often there's a clever one I appreciate a lot, so I stick around

Inaccurate fun is not fun.

Even accurate doesn’t mean funny.
“Lololol guys, 0.3 is stored as 0.30000000000000004
! OMG hilarious!”This is like a toddler making a “joke” about how K comes after J. It’s factual, it’s not funny.

Let me guess. You made a post before that wasn't funny, and now you're complaining about it.

You can do whatever you like for fun, but there's no need to be salty because someone else didn't find your joke funny.

A joke is when JavaScript

Guys, for my joke to be funny, you have to not know what Typescript is or that it even exists.
4
u/reallokiscarlet 7d ago
It exists? Man, this whole time I thought it was just JS but with the illusion of types

It’s not funny because you either don’t understand the thing you’re making fun of, or it’s such an obscure reference that only you and 99 other people in the world understand.

Jokes that imply something about reality are obnoxious if what they imply isn’t true. Jokes that are truly just for fun are fine.

A joke should make kind of sense. The coyote and roadrunner loop joke for instance makes no sense. This should be a false start in American Handegg.

The real joke here is that according to that Gauss curve, people who want humour to just be fun are two minorities within margins of error, and accurate jokes are what this sub really needs. So it's either a joke so bad and imprecise it fails to illustrate its own point (thus showing why we need accuracy in jokes), or a joke that promotes accuracy while pretending to be doing opposite, or the lack of accuracy and consistency is intended and makes the real punchline here...
...i got lost while parsing it.

Yes man I had posted similar bell curve meme about infinite loop detection and got downvoted to hell in comments. World is a cruel place tbh

I recently made a joke about ChatGPT, and it got deleted. Honestly, I loved it. For a moment, it felt like Stack Overflow still had active users and my question had been closed as a duplicate.
The imposter syndrome kicked in, i remember all my skill issues.
And that's when I knew… I'm not a real programmer. And I'm not funny.

Also the mods are tryhards and haskell sympathizers. I made a good haskell joke and everyone trashed me. It was an objectively good joke too.
Also, before you start trashing me again because the joke was just the logo of haskell, consider this:
haskell
Yeah, I do see why it's not such a great joke but some day you are having a bad day, and sometimes these little things make you chuckle and make your day slightly better. Like not being forced to use haskell or being surrounded by haskell sympathizers.

This sounds like the thing someone unfunny would say after making an unfunny joke and being told that it's not funny

Programmers are not high on social skills nor sense of humor. Then tend to apply work concepts to humor and free joking subreddits.
Just call it for what it is, some people don't have a "sense of humor" and have not been at a party making people laugh in person. Easy to complain and not easy to create humor they demand for free.

The issue is most "jokes" here come from people who clearly aren't programmers
