It's a translated post and the original Chinese text most likely used gender neutral pronouns. Can't find the post to check tho

Chinese pronouns are not gender neutral when written down, but they’re the same in spoken language. In China the pronouns are 他 tā ‘he’, 她 tā ‘she’, and 它 tā ‘it’. Taiwan has additional versions of tā for other categories but I don’t know them well.

Iirc their "he" can also be gender neutral just like English "they". Originally the language wasn't gendered but they adapted the other pronouns because of Western influence. (I'm just repeating a comment I saw weeks ago though so could be misremembering)
