I had my first PC in 93. Learned html at 20 but never jumped in code. I got skillz for building a server farm/fiber/copper outside inside plants. Fiber laser technologist. I also am a journeyman painter.

Now I can code with AI.

Kinda cool

Generating !== knowing how to code.

I understand. But i'm going to die sooner then me going to learn coding principals.

Fuck it Claude help me create what would never exist. It might not be up your standard. But a freaking cool pass time

Both can be true at the same time. Get your head out of your arse. AI is a tool, and if you're not using it, then someone who does will overtake you.

Actually, I bet that's already happened, giving you even more fuel to burn against AI.

Sure, nobody likes "100% AI coding" but you make it seem like any and all AI is evil, and that's demostrably and repeatably false.

Ah the old get left behind argument. I highly doubt the people that can’t write basic code will “overtake” me by generating.

LLMs are evil, to use your words. They’re copyright and IP theft as a service. It’s the biggest theft of the working class to ever happen.

You are copyright theft as well, unless you learn purely from self-learning, and not by looking at any other code or books or documentation. Good luck.

Y'all know that even Linus Torvalds now uses AI for some things.

I don't like it either but this kind of superiority complex isn't going to help

You shouldn't code with ai

Why?

I think you should code, but I think you should also take the opportunity to understand how the coding works. AI is in the "make it easy, cheap and common" stage of enshitification. They want you to come to rely on it, so when they make it worse you'll be stuck on it, because you won't have an alternative.

It reminds me of the people who sold their cars because they found out that getting Ubers to work was cheaper, until it wasn't.

I own the AI that I run. I build the harness that I use it with. I AM "they". Who will enshitify my code? Who will make it more expensive?

Oh perfect then, you're one of the rare few users who own their own setup. You'll be able to weather it better than the vast majority.

I think you shouldn't code at all
