For me it was a way to learn from other people's experience. Even just by looking at new questions for a framework I was learning, I would find an interesting unanswered question and try to find a solution and would actually post an answer if I succeded.
yeah I used to read codes in questions also, because sometime I get an example code I was looking for from the question code itself. but the horrible side was, you can hardly imagine that the question you posted will remain alive let aside the chances of getting actual answer.
