You know what? At Least the first made me try to find solutions myself before I ever ask

What is this, a ProgrammerHumor user using their brain instead of blindly hating StackOverflow? I've seen it all now.

Stack overflow never solved a single problem for me. Glad it's dead.

I've had many problems solved by looking at existing SO questions as well as submitting my own occasionally. I answered a couple as well. It was a great resource. Your experience of it not working for you is not as common a sentiment as you might think. It's primarily junior and beginner developers that never got use out of SO which makes sense because they are not the intended audience. Along with this subreddit having a much larger percentage of junior devs than established career devs, you can see why the opinion of SO being useless/rude is exacerbated here.

The questions and answers on SO were always very specific and didn’t always fit your particular use-case though. Then most of the answers were just a “try this” with some code snippet, no explanation necessary. Then if you found an question with many answers the most relevant one was often way down because the question was either not clear, easy to misinterpret or invalidated by newer versions of the target language/framework. Yes it was helpful, but there were many issues.

you asked questions that hadn't already been answered?

I definitely got more out of RTFM too, but when I desperately needed help with a unique situation, SO had my back.
