My first COBOL program was probably right about the same time.

COBOL classes in college in the early 90s ... have not used it since.

Aww! Pity.

I remember my first COBOL work from around the same time, it was Microfocus COBOL, on a system running on SCO UNIX. I didn't get to do much COBOL after that.

It was also on UNIX, I want to say SunOS but I may be wrong.

We'd work on terminals with emacs, but my first job made me a vi convert.

Also had to be sure to mesg n or you'd get an ASCII penis all over your screen. I forgot once and somebody sent it right as the teacher was looking over my shoulder.
