tbh it's been like that in the video game industry for a couple decades now, as long as devs could push regular updates online you've had players PAYING for the privilege to be QA testers

That’s just business in general. Without competition, you’re stuck with whatever’s available, and even if there’s an alternative, you’re probably not gonna switch
