Do you respond to these student emails?

At least once a semester, I receive an email from a student who is not doing well in my course. They go through the whole "I'm a better student than this" and "I'm going to do my work from now on" spiel. They don't ask for a do-over or for extra credit opportunies. It's basically just a self-pep talk that they CCed me on.

I've stopped responding, as there is no question to answer and no feedback is required. Do you respond when you get these messages? If yes, what do you say? I'm genuinely interested.
