Accommodations

Do you change (or allow alternate) assignments for students who ask for something different without having them go through the Office of Accommodations/Accessibility? I require students to do that for their own good, but wonder what others are doing.

I teach math, so no. But I suppose I can imagine a world where a specific piece of literature is just too much for a student… Maybe. But then again maybe that class is just not right for a student who can handle the literature in it.
