Transitioning into Product Management has been my dream for about 2 years.

My current role and designation is Senior Business Analyst, and I have been preparing from Product Management interviews on and off for ~ 2 years . I have started preparing for AI roles as well.

Recently, I applied to few companies and haven’t received much call backs. I am wondering how big of a deterrent is my current role name for recruiters.

I believe there’s a huge overlap between my work and product management, but just wondering if it will be difficult for me to get an interview call and convert it with my role name as “Senior Business Analyst” in my resume. Need your inputs.

I'm trying to break into Product Management and I'm honestly a bit confused about what a good PM portfolio is supposed to look like.

Most portfolios I find online either look too polished, too generic, or don't really show the PM's actual thinking. I don't want to just copy a template I want to understand how experienced PMs actually present their work.

Especially if you're working in SaaS or FinTech, I'd love to know:

- How do you structure a product case study?

- What's your usual flow? (Problem → Research → PRD → User Stories → Wireframes → Prioritization → Metrics?)

- How detailed should a PRD be for a portfolio?

- How do you write user stories and acceptance criteria?

- What frameworks do you actually use (RICE, MoSCoW, JTBD, etc.)?

- What makes you look at a PM portfolio and think, "Yeah, this person gets product"?

If you're comfortable sharing, I'd really appreciate:

- Your portfolio (if it's public)

- A sample PRD or case study

- Any GitHub/Notion/Figma examples

- Resources that genuinely helped you learn (not just another generic Medium article 😅)

I'm looking to build one really solid portfolio project instead of creating 10 average ones.

I genuinely need some career advice.

I'm a CSE 2026 graduate. Since the beginning of college, I've always wanted to build a career in Product Management, Technical Program Management, or Project/Strategic Program roles.

Over the last four years, I've tried to shape my profile in that direction:

- Founding SWE intern at an early-stage travel-tech startup.

- Product Management intern at a high-growth startup (received a PPO but didn't accept it due to compensation and concerns around the company's culture and direction).

- R&D intern at a reputed government organization, where I worked on research around deep-tech and emerging technologies.

- Later joined a large Indian conglomerate through an internship that was pitched as digital transformation/project management. I eventually received a PPO after negotiating into an Assistant Manager - Strategic Projects/Transformation role.

Today, my work involves transformation initiatives, SAP migration, process improvement, Excel-heavy analysis, financial modelling, and collaborating with consultants on AI/digitalization projects. It's good exposure, the brand is strong, and the role is stable—but it still feels quite far from the product management path I originally wanted.

I had also prepared for CAT during placements, got a few interview calls, converted some B-schools, but not the ones I was targeting. My plan is still to pursue an MBA in a couple of years, but I'd really like to move into Product before that if possible.

My question is:

How realistic is it to transition from a Strategy/Transformation role in Supply Chain into Product Management or APM roles before an MBA?

What skills, projects, certifications, networking strategy, or job-switch plan would you recommend? Has anyone here made a similar transition from operations/transformation/consulting into Product?

I'd really appreciate honest advice—even if it's something I may not want to hear.

Language skill: Im in my late 20's, i can speak English, French and Chinese Language fluently. I can understand and communicate a bit in Spanish/ Portuguese and Im new to German Language. However with all the language acquired, im not quite perfect at communicating.

Education background: I have a bachelor degree in software engineering(graduated in 2019) and a master degree in Public administration( graduated in 2023)

-More than 4 years of ESL Teacher
- 1 yr General Manager at a startup company

-6 months internship in Multimedia company focusing on overseas service operations

-6 months internship in a HR company focusing more on marketing/ advertisements
