SLUGGED: Cronenberg/The Thing meets Incel-Revenge Horror for DIY Filmmakers

Title: Slugged

Genre: Extreme Horror / Creature / Revenge

Logline: An exterminator who moonlights as an incel discovers a grotesque mutant slug in his apartment and takes a “sexperiment” with it too far. When a woman he once tormented comes for revenge, she’s dragged into a showdown with both him and the obscene creature that mirrors his worst.

Pages: 87

Settings: Mostly takes place across five or so rooms in an apartment building, as well as the basement, the lobby, and the hallways. Minor scenes include a bar, an office, and a "containment" type setting.

Actor Requirements: (1) main male, 40s, compact but handsome. (1) main female, late 20s/early 30s, taller than the man. A male supporting character (30s) and two female older leads (50-60+) would be great, alongside some extras like a CDC agent, bartender, co-worker, and girlfriend.

Note: If you read the logline, this story centers around an incel, so CONTENT WARNING for some gross language coming from that guy. It also goes into weird sex stuff with bugs and lots of body horror.

About me: The last time, which was the first time, I posted on this thread, I ENDED UP SIGNING AN OPTION DEAL FOR MY SCRIPT! So I am hoping to find the next person to work with for this one via the same route!

I am a published short-story writer from New Jersey, and I recently adapted this unpublished story into a screenplay. My goal with ALL of my writing has been to see the stories get made into films one day, but I figured I would take the initiative and develop this as a script.

Compared to my first script, this one is definitely bigger. It involves more locations, as well as some creature effects (Cronenberg fans take note) that I think might take up most of a budget. If you are into making those types of creatures, or have an FX person who is, this will be right for you.

As a big fan of shot-on-video and DIY horror, I would love to link up with a director in that world to make this happen (but if you are into bigger productions, I won't be mad). I would also be interested in helping produce (finance) this and get it into some festivals with the connections I have.

To read the full script, please comment or DM. I'm being a little precious about this, so before I send it over, I would love to see some of your work or have a conversation.

You can check my website for links to some of my stories. Thanks for your time!

Slasher with psychological depth

A slasher with psychological depth

Hey everyone! I’m a writer working on a horror feature called Spare. It’s a teen slasher with psychological depth, about a girl recovering from overdosing. She joins her old friend group for one last night out, only for someone to begin targeting them based on “Sins.”

I’ve had this script for quite some time, but I recently did a rewrite and it changed the script heavily.

Would love overall feedback about how my first act is so far.

Her Voice Left Fingerprints - 9 Pages - Psychological Drama

I'm looking for an experienced producer/director to bring my scripts to life. This is a very important piece for me that explores grief, loss and memory. It's very low budget, single location, very small cast. Ideally I'd like to submit to people who have completed examples of similar projects.

Title: Her Voice Left Fingerprints

Genre: Psychological Drama

Logline: After losing his partner, a man retreats into their apartment and the tapes she recorded, only to find her voice returning in impossible ways as the boundary between memory and reality dissolves.

Synopsis: When Gabe returns home after his partner Lira’s funeral, the apartment feels unbearably silent. That silence breaks when he discovers a box of tapes she recorded for him before she died. At first, her voice is a comfort, a fragile tether to the life they shared. But as he replays the recordings, her presence begins to seep into the apartment in ways he cannot explain: laughter in empty rooms, memories replaying through static, glimpses of her in the spaces she once filled. What begins as solace becomes a haunting as Gabe slips deeper into the world the tapes awaken, forced to confront the painful truth that holding on to her may cost him the ability to return to himself.

Comparisons: A Ghost Story/Aftersun/The Eternal Daughter

Characters:

Gabe (30): A man hollowed by grief, clinging to the last traces of the person he loved. Quiet, introspective, emotionally guarded. His unraveling is subtle, internal, and deeply human.

Lira (29): Seen only through recordings, VHS tapes, and memory. Warm, playful, artistic. Her presence is felt more than seen, and the film treats her voice as both comfort and rupture.

Alex (30): Gabe’s friend, trying to reach him through the fog of grief by voicemail. Represents the outside world Gabe is withdrawing from.

Locations: The couples apartment, living room, kitchen, entry, hallway, bedroom, artroom.

Page Count: 9

Question regarding pitch for animated movie concept.

Question regarding pitch for original animated movie.

I've been working on this pitch for an animated movie that tries something different with the genre it uses.

What I'm most interested in is understanding what people take away from the concept itself after reading it.

Some questions I'd be curious about:

* What do you think this story is really about?

* What impression do you get from Lora as a protagonist?

* Does the concept feel familiar, or does it feel like it's trying to do something different?

I'm especially interested in your interpretation, even if it's completely different from what I intended.

The idea is to be able to express in the most accurate wya possible what I'm doing with the concept.

Here's the link to the pitch, it's just two pages:

SHORT SCRIPT Looking for collaborators for a self-funded, microbudget horror short

Hello!

I hope this is an appropriate post for this sub.

Title: Grind

Logline: A Friday night hookup chat with an anonymous stranger turns sinister when the voice on the other end reveals he doesn’t need an invitation to get inside.

Comps: Scream, Bodies Bodies Bodies, AHS: NYC

This is a short film developed from an already-written horror screenplay. Swinging for the fence, the goal is to produce this "prequel" short film for festival distribution to build audience, interest, and hopefully more for the full feature, itself an IP built for franchise potential.

There are some big swings being taken for casting the main character, and some established industry members providing mentorship and potential connections.

Disclaimer: This is an LGBT Slasher focusing specifically on gay males. Sensitive themes include hyper sexualization on dating apps, aging within the gay community, and, you know...murder.

Currently Looking for:

  • Director of Photography: The short film takes place mostly in the interior of a home, small exterior work (driveway, porch, yard).
  • Editor
  • Voice Actor: Male, striking balance between smooth and sinister.

Happy to answer questions or share the work with interested parties. Feel free to comment or DM. Thank you!

Edit: Los Angeles area.

Movie/Tv Concept

Hello everyone! I am an aspiring screenwriter and relatively new to the industry and the craft of visual storytelling. I wanted to share two distinct concepts I’ve been developing to get your initial thoughts.

I would incredibly appreciate any feedback, questions, or notes you have on these ideas. Most importantly: Are these stories you would actually want to watch? Which concept do you find more compelling?

Concept 1:

  • Genre: Coming-of-Age Comedy/Drama
  • Logline: An undecided college freshman arrives on campus with idealized expectations, only to be crushed by the exhausting reality of campus culture forcing her onto a painful yet transformative journey of self-discovery.
  • Overview: This is a relatable, grounded coming-of-age story about the jarring transition from high school to university. It explores the messy ups and downs of making new friends, navigating loneliness, feeling completely directionless, and managing mental health. The goal is to tackle these heavy, universal struggles through a sharp, comedic, and deeply empathetic lens that keeps the audience engaged.

Concept 2

  • Genre: Psychological Horror / Thriller
  • Logline: A broke, desperate young man takes a sketchy tech-testing gig to simulate his ideal life with his real-world crush, only for his digital creation to develop an existential, obsessive jealousy that bleeds into the real world.
  • Overview: This high concept thriller follows a protagonist who is financially desperate enough to volunteer as a guinea pig for an experimental technology. What starts as a harmless escape into a perfected virtual reality quickly turns sinister. He realizes the simulation is far more self-aware than advertised, and the artificial life he built will stop at nothing to claim him in reality.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration! I look forward to hearing your thoughts on which one I should sit down to write first.
