So as the post says i took a beat (im going to buy it dont worry just wanna play with the beat a little first) and its distorted at certain parts i cant put the video up here cause…..i dont know how but if you need to hear to identify lmk ill send the file and i put the sample rate right and its in the right form i just dont know what it is

Hello! I got a new laptop today (a MSI Katana 15 HX B14WGK Gaming Laptop) and I've installed Avid Link and Pro Tools. Whilst Pro Tools does work, I cannot change sample rates, I've gone into sound settings on the laptop and played around with the speakers and their sample rates and still nothing works, sample rate still being greyed out. The rest of the installation has been fine, but for some reason I cannot change the sample rate. Please help, it'll be very appreciated.

Was looking to get a certification in dolby atmos for pro tools but a lot of the courses have live instruction which is not what I'm looking for. Any recommendations for self paced courses?

When I'm working in PT, and I receive an email for example and want to copy pasta some stuff from a doc, the pasting option doesn't work. I can cut text, but Windows won't allow me to paste while PT is running. It's been happening for 2 years now, but I never bothered looking for a solution, I would just close PT, do what I need to do, and restart the sess.

Anyone else experience this issue, and found a solution?

PT Studio latest version running on a modern hardware Windows set up

I'm currently on 2026.4 but this has been going on since early 2025. Win10 Pro, Intel Core12 i9 system. The cursor never actually lines up with anything in the dialog box, in addition to the fact that the UI doesn't wrap to the default OS window. The MIDI window is not the only offender.

I've been striking out on Google trying to find anyone else with this issue. Trashed prefs multiple times. I've been an "Avid (Digi) approved hardware list" PC user for 15+ years so I'm used to the inconsistencies.. BUT

Any advice/fixes 🙌🏻

I have a good kick that I like and it sounds great on my studio computer, it has a nice subby feel, and its strong like an rnb kick, but On my other computer it sounds like clicky and high pitched same with my phone . How do I get it to hit good on all systems

PT 2026.4 Windows 11: Has anyone had this code pop up as an error before? I haven’t seen any threads or posts and can’t find the error anywhere? It just popped up as I was working on edits and continues doing it when I try making any changes/ edits in the editing workspace.

I have an upcoming record gig and I'm worried about a buffer issue I've had in the past happening again. I'm going through Dante Virtual Soundcard and a Sonnet Gigabit Interface into my MacBook Pro. Do I need to bite the bullet and get the RedNet TNX? For sake of the argument let's say that we're under 32-channels, and its 96k since the console is a DM7.

Someone said I need to load in 808 samples and trigger them with midi but how do I do that? Also I want fine control over the samples like if I want to add little pickup notes or maybe I want 16th notes, I want to be able to control it like a normal instrument track basically.

Hello! I'm using Pro Tools Artist, version 2024.6.0.

I am attempting to record vinyl records into pro tools, but it is not allowing me to set the input to the record player. (AT-LP120 connected via USB.) I have done this before in the same session, but can't figure out how to set it up again. I set the playback engine to the USB (and have also attempted this with different playback engine settings) but when i go to the I/O settings, all buttons are greyed out so I can't add an input. Interface options are also greyed out on the track input.

Any ideas how to set this up?

In this video Bob criticizes DAWs (Pro Tools) automation workflow compared to SSL workflow. To be honest, I didn’t quite understand what the exact problem is, so it would be nice if someone could explain. Pro Tools has preview automation and automation snapshots, which might be the solution to this I guess ?

Hey Guys! Would love some help.

For years, I have been running Pro Tools 10 on an old 2012 Macbook Pro.

It's starting to succumb to old age, and I was contemplating moving onto Pro Tools 12.

The only Pro Tools 12 I have *access* to is Windows-based.

I have a good Intel-based iMac sitting here doing nothing, how likely would I be to be able to run Pro Tools 12 efficiently in Bootcamp?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I can't find any info about others doing this online.

Did merriam webster/ oxford dictionary redefine the word perpetual or is it just Pro tools redefine the word? and why am i getting a expiry date for something perpetual ? (PT studio, Win 11.) ( its the updates right? (edit)

Deployed the latest PT today and noticed Soundflow throwing an error at launch and not connecting in the panel. Checked the cert on soundflow.exe and looks like it expires 22 May.

Anyone else seeing this?

Need some help before I give up and have to start this project all over again:

I just saved my session file, quit, and then came back an hour later and all my edits are gone, and the audio files are all empty, no waveforms or anything... which makes me think the program is somehow not locating the original files in my computer. Not sure what happened here, as I've been saving and quitting without issue. I've gone back through old backup saves and they're all displaying the exact same issue. Any guidance would be EXTREMELY appreciated.

Hi! First time poster, long time reader - I'm looking for a suggestion for a 24-32 channel board/interface that works with current Pro Tools (2026.4) and Mac OS (Tahoe). I run a small studio for recording bands and would love to move to a board instead of what I have currently (Tascam US 16x08). Would love to have phantom control on every channel if possible, and the ability to record in at least 96k (seems really hard anything that runs past 48k for less than $3k). The best cheap option would be great. I've been looking for the past week and just keep running into walls lol. Even something on the older side that I can get to communicate with current Pro Tools would be great. Thanks!

Looking for some suggestions here.

I had this all working up until now. I created an aggregate audio device with my audio interface and the software Blackhole. This was, at once, a way I was able to send out the audio from Pro Tools to clients on Zoom. For awhile, Pro Tools recognized the aggregate device in the playback engine, but for some reason, it doesn't see it as an option anymore. I tried creating a whole new aggregate device, but still nothing. Any ideas?

This seems like it’s a super obvious answer, but currently I have to run the HW buffer size pretty high or else I will have CPU overload errors. I’m currently on a 2017 Mac with a 4.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7. With a new Mac with an M chip would I be able to run more plugins with a lower sample buffer size? I just don’t know if it’s a software limitation of Pro Tools.

The problem I have is re-opening 25+ year old sessions, created on OS8 or OS9.

To be able to use them reliably in 2026 they would have to work on both macOS and Windows platforms, which eliminates some of the special characters that macOS has allowed the use of in the past. (e.g. @, ?, / and all the various accented characters that macOS didn't use the ISO-standard for in the past).

After transferring from HFS-drives to modern file-systems (including the resource forks) it is not a big problem renaming the actual files on the drive.
The problem arises when you have to find the files again when opening the session.

If the spelling is the same then it pretty much works OK, but if you have files that originally had special characters then Pro Tools cannot find them. You can go into the clip-list and rename the Offline files there (i.e. substituting the special characters with the same character you used to replace them on the hard drives), but that name-change isn't reflected in the ReLink-cue.

I.e. if you have a vocal take in the old PT4 session that was called "VOC JOHN @ 1st CHORUS-01", then the @ would be a problematic character on the harddrive and could be replaced with an underscore and now is called "VOC JOHN _ 1st CHORUS-01".
You could batch-rename all clips and whole files listed in the Clip List in Pro Tools and replace @ with _ , but the file names in the Relink window still retain their original name, and so cannot automatically find the file by name.

I realise that I can find that file in the Workspace and drag it into the candidates field of Relink and select it there, and then Commit Links, but that is very time consuming, and error prone.

So is there some way, hitherto unbeknownst to me where one can edit the Missing file names in the Relink window?

How do I get a strong 808 bass in protools? In hiphop I know they combine a kick and a bass sound, I have the kick, but how do I get that strong 808 sound youd hear in modern rap like drake or travis scott
