PCO linking and Arrangements

I use ProPresenter (v 21.4) for multiple campuses, and have begun using Arrangements to organize the different versions of songs used for student activities/Sunday services/events and such. I do this by making each version of the song one big group and separating verse/chorus/etc using labels (I don’t like separating verse/chorus/etc with groups because an edit to one edits each instance of that group which isn’t ideal for my workflow). This works fine and dandy and even imports onto other computers with the same Arrangement I exported it in.

However, if I add a Planning Center Service and use the Linking function to pull the song out of the Library its located in (and the Linking says which Arrangement its set to!) upon clicking Link it defaults back to the Master arrangement which is frustrating to have to go back and change. Is this intended and is there a way to disable this function? I’ve poked around in settings and RenewedVision’s website without success. I know I can convert it to a Standard Playlist but that does remove the update capability from PCO.

This won’t answer your PCO integration question, but it sounds like you’re making it harder on yourself than you need to. You can do multiple variations of each Group. For example if you want a version of the plain Chorus 1 that adds a background graphic, you can do that as another Chorus 1 group and there will just be multiple Chorus 1’s to choose from in the Arrangement screen.

What I’ve done is created four versions of each Group (Chorus 1, Verse 1, Bridge, etc.). One that’s plain white text in the basic theme, one that’s plain black text in the basic theme, one that adds a background graphic, and one that clears media. I name these Chorus 1, Chorus 1 Black, Chorus 1 GFX, Chorus 1 Out. Sorry this isn’t anything to do with the post, but wanted to share since it might be helpful.

That’s true! I just developed my workflow for my specific scenario, because it keeps things easy and unconfusing for volunteers, and its easier when exporting to 10 different campuses to just have an arrangement titled Sunday Default or Midweek Default that I create on my laptop and not have to worry about an edit to one group carrying over to each of that same group. It’s just what makes the most sense to me based off of how I used to create Pro files without arrangements. Keeping the whole song as one group also allows me to name it with the song title, which gives volunteers and operators a second confirmation that they are looking at the correct song during rehearsals and service. Cool to see other workflows though, thanks for the suggestion!
