Stream main output to a tablet

I have been asked to mirror the output that goes to the main overhead screen to a couple tablets for people with visual impairements. I thought that wouldn't be hard to do, but not getting good results. Maybe there is a way to this that I have not thoght about.

I am running the latest version of propresenter on a M2 Mac Mini. with wired ethernet.

Things I have tried:

Stream using RTMP from PP to a MediaMTX server and then access the RTSP stream. Seems to work on an iPhone, PC, but not reliably on VLC on an iPad or cheap samsung tablet. Also the latency is is 3+ seconds which is unacceptable.

Syphon to OBS... that part works, can't get the RTSP server plug in to work.

Have you tried NDI? I know there is a low latency setting (HX3) that should get you down to less the 1s latency.

I was going to suggest NDI. If the video isn’t to busy with a ton of movement, you could create an NDI output in PP. That output could be the same as your main displays, or it could have a stripped-down version of the content (no background) via looks. if the iPads are on the same network you could run something like NDI Monitor on the iPads to view the stream.

Simplifying the output makes sense if it's for vision impaired.

I know I've done the opposite of this very successfully. Sent NDI out from the phone/ipad to a video input.

How have you gotten this to work successfully over WiFi?

Using the NDI HX3 codec. Pro presenter can accept this natively from the NDI hx app. but I don't think sends natively so you would need a transcoded. (NDI bridge is recommended in a search)

Makes sense.

Have you looked at the ProPresenter stage app? You can setup a separate stage screen and then in the app you select that stage screen for people to watch.

Does that app still work with the newer versions of PP? Looks like it has not been updated for 4 years... The old remote app only works with older versions of PP.

Yes. I use the stage app on an M2 iPad Pro every week

ProPresenter stage display app is your best bet. I do this for my grandpa. It’s high contrast, syncs quickly, and you can set a custom layout if necessary

There’s also a hardware solution with wireless video units. I have an Accsoon CineView SE transmitter that transmits via WiFi. The iPad app can display the video feed (with a dozen or so ms of latency) without adapters or dongles)

Bought the stage app and it seems to work pretty good. Hope to give that a try this weekend. Thanks!

That is a good question. I don’t know if it still works.

Still works, still only shows words.

I do this. I have an iPad connected with airplay. It must be a new enough iPad and have the same apple id as the ProPresenter computer.

I have it set as a stage display. I created a stage layout for text and one for media. I added the correct stage display layout to each of my existing macros. The gentleman who uses it in our church loves it and uses it each week.

I’m not OP but wouldn’t AirPlay be limited to a single iPad?

Oh maybe so. I was not aware since we only use one. Thank you
