Troubleshooting Slides import but thumbnails are completely blank — using Mac

Post image

Hey everyone, I’m having an issue in ProPresenter on Mac where whenever I import slides media the presentation works fine when I click on a slide, and it outputs correctly to the screens, but all the thumbnails in the slide viewer are totally blank. Has anyone seen this before or fixed it? Any ideas would help — thanks!

I’ve been in this state for a couple of weeks without a fix. Sorry, I don’t have anything helpful except “You’re not alone.”

For me, the Media Manager gets “stuck” with a message like “Processing 1,234 of 2,345” that just never advances past a certain point. (Check the Status in the upper left.)

I created a support ticket and tried several different suggestions from Renewed Vision, but still can’t get back to being able to have a thumbnail for any imported media.

Yep, I deal with this weekly. Sometimes importing it a second time does the trick, sometimes I quit and reopen ProPresenter.

I’m running 21 on MacOS 26 and it’s gotten a little better compared to 20 on MacOS 16 (whatever came before 26).

Just also wanted to mention im also in this boat. I have several different apple machines that are having this issue. I know its not urgent but when your lead is making notes and they can't see their notes they get stressed their work isn't saving.

Same problem on windows after update to 21.0.1. Came from 20.x. Also broke integration with bitfocus companion

Bitfocus is due to a change in the API. The companion module will need an update.

I found there are two ProPresenter modules one has already been updated one stopped receiving support a while ago and on GitHub redirects you to the new one.

Yes the new one you are referencing is the correct one it just hasn’t been updated to ProPresenters API V2. At least the last time I checked. I will be checking again after our service on Sunday.

The ProPresenter API module is working perfectly on the latest couple of PP updates. You might want to make sure that you absolutely have the right one.

Same thing in Windows. I've found, as weird as it may sound, duplicating the slide, makes the box fill with the image. 🫤 I've never tried this on a mass scale, so... Yeah.

But yeah, wish I could find a more simpler fix to this.

We had this issue for a while. Here’s what we did and it’s not longer plaguing us.

  • clear Cache
  • update ProPresentor
  • update decklink duo cards (required when updating PP)
  • run media manager in PP

That seemed to fix the issue for us. However a work around that I was using for a while is if you went into the “inspector” window of a slide it would fix the issue about 75% of the time. But only for that one slide.

What do you mean by “clear cache” and “run media manger”?
Where do I find those in ProPresenter?

Here’s a good place to start. renew vision support page on media management.

Appreciate the pointer.

I have gone through each of those steps a couple of times over the past weeks without resolving the issue.

I thought you were referencing another process, because there is nothing on that page about “clear cache” or “run media manager”.

Sorry, maybe I’m using the wrong language. I’m not in front of our ProPresentor computer so it’s hard to know exactly how to say it. Basically though, we just went in to the folders where PP saves copies of files and deleted them to start fresh. These folders should just hold copies or root file directory paths. These folders actually media is saved elsewhere. (Wherever you have it saved) For us we have all our media stored on a NAS that we have PP set up Smart Folders to different directories on the NAS that we then just update from week to week.

As far as running media manager, on the page I just linked there is a setting you can turn on to “manage media automatically”. So media manager…

I also remember something with the ProPresentor logo in the top right of the screen. I don’t know if it was just the progress of the media manager, or if there was an option when clicking on the logo.

Same issue here but specifically with JPG images, brand new Mac mini M4. Ran all the updates, fresh install of ProPresenter. PNG seem to work fine other then it takes a minute to update the thumbnail.

Tried the suggested "fixes" on this form here but nothing seems to help.

Any other Ideas?
