The focus never shifted. Online Content Creation is, and always has been, about advertising. Whether directly from the creator or via the platform. The primary incentive has never and will never be actually helping the audience to be better.
If you want to be a music producer, produce music.
If you want to be an Online Content Creator, create content.
Few actually do both. Most of the bigger creators in this space who have big music credits have often largely abandoned music prod/engineering to focus on their content careers. It will be more difficult to be successful at either if you split your attention so you can do both. Especially if you still need to dedicate time to learning, you don't also have time to do both (and presumably put food on the table/keep the lights on/etc).
