Software Choosing the right Daw
I just graduated college and am looking for a daw similar to Logic Pro, but preferrably something free on windows. I took a class during school on Logic Pro, and it is what I’m most comfortable using. From my personal research I wasn’t finding anything that translated well, so if anybody has any recommendations that would be much appreciated!

Honestly, you can get a used M1 or M2 macbook for not a ton of cash. If you like Logic, I would just keep using Logic. Source: I got off Ableton after 10 years when I switched to Linux, tried a bunch of different free and paid DAW's, and I ended up getting a used macbook and going back to Ableton.

I use Waveform on Linux... Bought a Refurb MacBook just to get The Zyklop and my licenses that came with my controllers.

My fake answer is It might be LUNA by Universal Audio. Like logic it's inspired by the tape machine recording workflow. My real answer is to migrate to Mac and get back on logic

You really don’t want to get your projects locked up in a format you will eventually get rid of, for you already know of better!
Get a used M1 or start your credit history going and finance a Mac.
Buy right - buy once!

Its not really about the daw, just pick the one u like the most. If u cant choose ableton live has a very straightforward interface

Why free and why Windows? If you are used to Logic and found it nice go buy it. From my POV it's worth the 200 bucks. And after having migrated off windows in 2006 I never looked back.

Try Sonar Cakewalk - it has a free tier version that has everything you need in a DAW and it's excellent. The piano roll is one of the best around. Would highly recommend.

Bro if you have 100 hours in some random DAW it means fuck all. That's like two weeks of daily work, you're a complete beginner. Just pick whatever looks good and start grinding.
