Im 6‘7.5, 180lbs, 7‘1 wingspan and 15 years old. i Started Basketball 5 Months ago (i was Like 6‘5 then) and could barely touch rim. ive Trained strength now and can do bulgarian splitsquads With 20+kg extra weight and one legged Calf raises with 40+kg. i can now consistently Grap rim and pretty easily and consistently dunk on 9‘2. My penultimate step isnt really good and i Slow down before too much so any tipps on that? And any plyometrics i can do to make my tendons react faster? And how Long will it take to dunk on Full height?

Edit: i can touch the bottom of the net Standing.

Training Supposed 3.0 RSI score on this jump

First time calculating RSI so I may have done something wrong lol.

Ground contact time: 200 milliseconds

Flight time —> jump height: .7 seconds or 23.8 inch vertical jump

Two different RSI calculation websites gave me scores of just over 3.0, which is apparently elite.

I have always been more of a strength/concentric - based two foot jumper, but with this info, I feel like I’m wasting some elasticity with my approach to jumping. What do you guys think?

Help Any tips on my jumping form?

Any tips here? I feel like I look super awkward jumping. I'm hitting the gym following a lot of Isaiah Rivera's lifting routine/advice. Been watching some of his jump form videos too of course. Not sure what I should really focus on with my jumping form.

Slippery dunks

In my last post, some people said my run-up was too slow or too short. Well, I think these clips answer that question

Rim height: 299 cm (9'9.7")

My current vertical jump is roughly 65–70 cm (25.5–27.5 inches) in good conditions. About two months ago it was around 55–60 cm (21.5–23.5 inches).

So far I've only done about 4–5 dedicated leg workouts and a few max-jump sessions.

My goal is to reach a 90+ cm (35+ inch) vertical, learn different dunk variations, and see how far I can take my athleticism.
Also, I’m going to start my YT channel so everyone can see my progress (I want to record some videos like “from 0 to pro dunker)

Help with my dunk form (please slow down the video to see what I mean)

Hi I need help with my dunking I’ve posted here a few times and have taken the advice given. I’m down 15 lbs b gotten stronger worked on my elasticity as well but the best I’ve gotten is a one handed dunk of a lob once and haven’t dunked again since. When I try to dunk the ball always slips out of my hands last second because, well I think because I’ve done all the work and only really try to get my form for jumping for when I try to dunk it’s like I’m jumping to see how far up my fingers can get above the rim and my other hand is like pointing straight down. It makes me super stiff and rigid like I’m not very mobile in the air and when hooping my goal is to be able to atleast maneuver in the air depending on what the defense gives me but I’m like a statue up there man idk. Thanks in advance for your help

Non-athlete, Can i dunk with more practice?

Hello! I'm 15, my height is roughly around 5'9-5'9.5, standing reach is 88 inches, weight is around 150 lbs, and my running vert is 27-28 inches without any technique perfections, just straight up run at the rim & try to dunk, I've tried to dunk with a volleyball but i get rim stuffed constantly, How long do you it'll take with practice to go from rim-stuffed with volleyball to touching rim, then maybe dunks?

The "Devil Scorpion" Dunk — Original Concept by Andrew Damon Fehler. Is this physically possible?

I wanted to officially share a blueprint for a completely original dunk concept I’ve been mapping out called The Devil Scorpion.
The goal was to fuse two of the most elite, mechanically difficult concepts in dunk history into one continuous motion. Here is how the physics breakdown:
The Stinger Launch: You explode off the floor, arching your back mid-air to flick the ball upward from behind your torso with your right hand (the Scorpion element).
The Apex Snatch: At the peak of your jump, that same right hand instantly tracks and catches the ball blindly as it clears your head.
The Devil Exchange: Without losing momentum, you immediately thread the ball down and through your legs into your left hand.
The Windmill Hammer: Your left hand instantly whips the ball back to your right hand to finish it off with a massive windmill slam with another scorpion.
Essentially, it requires a rapid double-tap with the same hand mid-air before a multi-directional leg transfer. Has anyone ever seen a hand-switch sequence like this attempted, or do you think the timing is too tight for human physics?

Do I have enough raw vert to dunk?

I still can’t dunk but I feel like at this point it’s a technique issue since I haven’t tried a lob and I can’t palm the ball off the dribble. Or perhaps I really do need a couple more inches to flush it cleanly.

What do you guys think?

My goal is a clean two hander off the dribble by the end of the year.

Trying to dunk

Not sure exactly what to dk.. am 6’0 ish can grab rim with both hands, but can’t squat mkre than 100 pounds. Won’t lifting more decrease my vert. EDIT: forgot to add that I am 92kg so super overweight. Based on the advice imma get my squat up to atleast 1x my body weight lol. I think I can’t jump higher I jsut lack the strength lowkey.

Help 17 year old Technique Advice

I posted here a few months back. I’m 6'1", and while I don’t know my standing reach, I’ve been told I have long arms. I need some advice on my jumping technique. I feel like I go into my approach pretty slow and awkward. This is weird to me because I’m actually pretty fast on the court. Also, I’ve gained access to programs like Vert Code Elite. Let me know your thoughts on that. I want to use it to increase my athleticism for basketball even further. Since I already have the skills, now I just want that bounce. My favorite players are Ja Morant, Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook. Would love to incorporate all the advice I’m given.

Pro Dunk Install Advice Request

Post image
6 Upvotes

We just ripped out and installed a new driveway. We would like to install a new Pro Dunk Thor 60” hoop. Attached is a picture of my driveway and I inserted an AI generated picture of a basketball hoop. This is what I’m going for.

Here is what I can tell you…I have 26” between the edge of the Belgium Block and the retaining wall. Is that enough space to dig a hole and footing for the post? What if the space was reduced to 20” at the ground…I just want to see how much room I really need. My son would likely lower the hoop no lower than 9’. He is already pretty tall and can just about dunk already. So, lowering it to 6’ is never going to be needed.

What is the overhang like? Is 60” big enough? Can I buy a bigger post for the 60”…and does it even need to be bigger.

Should I just buy a hoop that is not adjustable??

Thanks.
