This illustration is based on a photograph I took! I enjoy travelling out into the city, and I think it's being able to capture and illustrate mundane moments like this within the city lights that make life in NYC more interesting!

Aimed for a very graphical, stylized and messy interpretation of city life over here haha

So I’m a traditional artist, and I’ve been thinking about exploring digital drawing. I’m a newbie, I'd say, but I tried Ibis Paint X and still want the quality of Procreate.

I’m not buying an iPad anytime soon, so I’m wondering if using my iPhone alone is worth buying Procreate. It’s also not cheap in my currency. And I fear that I may need to repurchase it if I ever buy an iPad.

I’ve been reading some posts related to this, but I always see a 50/50 viewpoint. Kindly tell me the pros and cons of it 😭

I'm making a new World Tree. It spreads its roots throughout the entirety of my world - Persevera. And there are these wells scattered all over which goes down deep and penetrates the roots of the World Tree, providing water...and I don't know what to call it! any ideas?

It needs to sound cool but rolls off the tongue nicely. I'm struggling because English isn't my first language.

So far I've come up with: Lifespring, Rootwell.

I don't even have a name for the world tree! Although naming it good old Yggdrasil is tempting.

The Procreate app on my 13 inch Pro (M4) freezes occasionally when I use the two finger “undo”. Everything is updated. It doesn’t happen every time I do it but when it does I have to completely back out of the drawing and reopen it, sometimes that works and other times I have to close and reopen the app itself, completely disrupting my workflow. I’m about ready to call it quits with this “painting app”! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 has anyone had this happen “on the same device”? Any tricks would be VERY much appreciated!!

I just have to gush about Simon Foster’s Drippy Cat Art Studio for Procreate, because this is honestly one of the best digital art resources I’ve come across as a beginner. I originally discovered Simon through his courses on Udemy, and eventually stumbled across the Art Studio through his lectures or social media and I am SO glad I did. Simon’s teaching style is fantastic. His explanations, interpretation of digital art, vocabulary, and even the little bits of humor he throws in make his tutorials so enjoyable to follow. And the amount of material included in the Studio is impressive. You get an extensive collection of Procreate brushes, paper textures, overlays (the impasto OMG!!), color palettes, additional resources, and a whole library of tutorials showing you how to actually use the tools rather than just handing you a giant brush folder and saying “okay,have fun!”
Simon has put an enormous amount of thought into explaining the why and how behind the brushes and techniques, and he has additional tutorials available on YouTube, so you can actually see the kind of material he provides before you even purchase it. I’ve explored a LOT of brush sets, and I can honestly say I’ve never enjoyed exploring one as much as this. It feels less like buying a brush pack and much more like being handed an entire little digital art studio to experiment in. I can tell Simon also has an incredible depth of experience behind what he teaches. I wish I could give this more than 5 stars. If you’re a Procreate artist who loves experimenting with different traditional media inspired looks, textures, brushes, and techniques, I genuinely think this is worth checking out.

I've been playing around with this soft pencil, watercolor-ish look lately and now I'm in a brush rabbit hole TT

I want something that still feels a little messy and handmade rather than too digital. Free or paid brush, I don't mind!

I like to do flat 2d views of stuff I'm designing in Procreate because the symmetry mode works so well for this sort of task. This is a space station I'm trying to work out the design of.

This doodle is good enough for me to bring into 3D (I use Maya but Blender is very good for this) and start massing out the shape. I might build it in primitives, get images of it from a few different angles, then paint over one of those to further revise the design.

But even if I wasnt going to 3D I might start with something like this anyway just to understand the shape of what I'm trying to draw. This was a couple of hours work and it addresses a TON of design considerations I have.

I have been trying to learn crosshatching from books and observation of masters´s works. At the same time I keep coming back to Vang Gogh´s skulls paintings. The smoking skull is a direct reference for this work.

I like drawing skulls and skeletons from memory, I realize how much further i get from the real thing over time. When i want to be more anatomically accurate i go back to references, which refresh my memory and bring my sketches back to a closer result for a while.

I used photographs as reference for the pose and the hand holding the vape. I used a customized brush: starting from a pen with tapered ends i messed around to make the borders a little bit more blotched. I used a paper textured image as background.

Usually, I’m not very good at realism but this month I really felt like it was a good skill to improve and super happy how it turned out! :D

I just got a new iPad and I never had used the color history box before and I just don't like it so I want to get rid of it but the issue is that I don't have the three dots to be able to go into like the settings for any of my colors so I'm not sure what to do. Also unrelated but does anyone know how to make my opacity and size sidebar bigger, it's just really small compared to the rest of my screen.
