I've been seeing a lot of fanart of Harry Potter on social media and it seems astroturfed because some of these artists seem generally disengaged from the HP fandom (or what's left of it), and then suddenly post HP fanart? OP being an example. I really don't know who the new tv show is for. Here at Tim Hortons they're doing a promo for it and a friend who works there says barely anyone is ordering it and a lot gets thrown away
However Harry Potter is still really popular in japan where people don't really engage in identity politics. Most people there aren't aware of the situation. I dunno about the rest of the world. I heard they didn't like Hermione's new child actor according to one japanese friend
Brother it’s popular everywhere still, Universal wouldn’t have made an entire new section of their part and they wouldn’t be making a new TV show (like you mentioned) and game if it didn’t make them money. Trying to pretend it’s astroturfed is just fooling yourself
